Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox all have multiple championships.  Don't follow hockey, so not sure if their hockey team has won (or if they even have one).

What is it that creates the culture of winning in Boston?

I think the timing of it might be skewing things a bit.   The town has had a great run since the Pats won in '02, but look at it this way:

Celtics - 1 title in 27 years
Bruins -1 title in 41 years
Red Sox - 3 in 95 years (also 3 since '04 which is good)
Pats - haven't won in 9 years.

As said - a good run, but they've bunched their titles.  Good time to be a fan.

Well if you look at it that way it's not as impressive.

Although, I wonder how many other cities have had the same success?

yankees 27 titles kinda puts it all into perspective[not a yankee fan] but you got to give them credit.

In baseball perspective.  They don't have the same tradition with football and basketball.  A few titles by the NY Giants.  Cannot remember if the Knicks have ever won a title?  If they did it was before my time.

Knicks have won at least 2 ('70, '73)  maybe more

Hockey...  Islanders won 4 or 5 in a row in the late 70's/early 80's ...  Rangers have won 3 (by far the least among the Original Six)

Not saying other cities haven't had success too, just pointing out how successful Boston has been in numerous sports.  There are lots of cities (most?) that don't have that same culture of winning across multiple sports.

they had a pretty nice run lately but a true fan sticks with his teams through thick and thin imagine being a pittsburgh pirate fan the last 20 or so years AB [after bonds].

Yeah I was watching a Pirates game with someone a few months ago and they were telling me how long it had been since the Pirates made the playoffs.

Been there.  My Lakers had a long rough patch.  Going through another one.  My Niners went from king of the world to literally the worst team in the NFL.

In the last decade, athletes are bigger, stronger and faster than ever before...And competition to compete at any level as a pro is much harder to do today than ever before. So all those titles in the last decade is absolutely amazing. And by the looks of it, every team but the Celtics has a good chance of competing for a title for the next 5 years...
