We get in the clubhouse for the dinner/ awards...they call out some guys name, he goes up gets his trophy for the long drive...

I ask him after...what the hell, nice drive bro...didn't think anyone would have gotten me here.

He replies with a laugh, he says...thats like me beating you in a BB competition...

I'm the current world long drive champion!

DOH!!

over 300 is REALLY good man... prop... only got over 300 once  :'(

No...this guy just sucks...shot a 110 the day before, made the last qualifying spot.

These index/ handicaps are based over a 6 month period...

Toug to overome 12 strokes on match play...different animal. I still would have beaten him in reg play...

Hey, it happends. I have found out if anything, Golf is waay more than 50% a mental game. If this guy plays in the LA Championships and you let it get to you, it could mess your round up big time. 3 weeks ago I was playing at Mile Square and through the first 7 holes I was shooting +1, my contact was good, drives straight and long chipping was good, lobs, everything. After I tee off on the 8th, I get a call that kind of disturbed me......my second shot I shank it into the trees, 3rd shot INTO a tree and bounces back further, 4th shot, over the fairway into a bunker, shots 5 & 6 IN the bunker, finally got out the bunker and 3 putted, finished the 9th with a double bougey, shook hands and went home. After the 8th I knew I wasn't going to recover!!

No...I had to go to the metal after i snapped two in half. Didn't have much choice.

Golf is cool but to me it's like playing the Guitar.  Unless you can put in the time to really learn how to play, what's the point? I see these weekend warriors hacking up the course and I think how satisfying could it be to do something 2 maybe 3 times a month and just suck at it.

Guaranteed 5 hrs away from your wife/girl,kids,plus it's sociably acceptable to start drinking at 9:00am.that my friend is pretty satisfying ;)
