I agree with your view 100%, but My problem is, you have child molesters outthere that would get a year in jail and you're condemning a dude for up 5 months in jail. Killing animals are wrong, but a child molester shouldn't get less sentence than a guy who kill a dog or two
Where do you get your numbers? Thin air?
This from the Bureau of Justice Statistics
The average sentence imposed on the 9,700 sex offenders was 8 years and, on average, 3 1/2 years of those 8 years were actually served prior to release. The average sentence imposed on the 4,300 child molesters was approximately 7 years and, on average, child molesters were released after serving 3 of the 7 years.
http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/pub/press/rsorp94pr.htm Study after study shows a link between child abuse, domestic abuse, and animal abuse.14 Almost all of these studies illustrate correlations linking the types of abuse at higher than seventy percent.15 Thus, animal abuse can be used to uncover or predict other forms of abuse.

Violent acts toward animals have long been recognized as indicators of a dangerous psychopathy that does not confine itself to animals. “Anyone who has accustomed himself to regard the life of any living creature as worthless is in danger of arriving also at the idea of worthless human lives,” wrote humanitarian Dr. Albert Schweitzer. “Murderers ... very often start out by killing and torturing animals as kids,” according to Robert K. Ressler, who developed profiles of serial killers for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Studies have now convinced sociologists, lawmakers, and the courts that acts of cruelty toward animals deserve our attention. They can be the first sign of a violent pathology that includes human victims.
