Gonna use the Adonis Principles to get to a more healthy weight.
6'1" starting weight 279.
My goal would to be between 10 and 12% body fat.
I'm 45 and go through periods of lifting for a while and then quit for a while. I have been lifting off and on since I was a kid. I'd say I am about average experienced. I have learned to lift more carefully as I am older and prone to injury if not cautious. I have a home gym that I use. We recently moved and I have been away from the weights for a while but I have my gym set up now and can do most weightlifting exercises. I have a semi bad back, but can do light squats.
I usually do chest/tris/shoulders, then back/bis, then legs for a 3 day a week split. 3 or 4 sets per exercise about 10 reps each and about 3 to 4 exercises per body part.
I also have an elliptical trainer that I will use for cardio.

I think I need about 2 weeks to prepare myself for the WEEKS 1 – 3 (Prep Phase) that TA wrote above. I'll do a more moderate version of that to prep my body for what is about to come, then I'll do that as close as possible.

Dude... Adonis is an idiot. Don't follow that unhealthy non sense. It's not that hard really.
Pick one of each side per meal and eat a reasonable portion:
Chicken. Brown Rice
Turkey. Sweet Potato
Egg Whites. Whole Wheat Pasta (small portion)
Tuna. Vegetables
Fresh Fish. Oatmeal
Flank. Fruit
Mix and match any combo you like. If your not competing, season / cook any way you like. Just no frying etc. If your competing, prep and weight matter. For losing weight / being healthy not as much.
There are more of each choices or protein / carbs people can add too. My point is it's not real hard to figure out or do. As much as I tease him, look at Sev's threads about dieting. He has that part right. He does this exact thing... Fresh Fish along with Tomato. Etc.
Very simple.

A calorie is a calorie only works for the super fat...
Example:
A 400 pound fatty eats 2 whole pizzas every day. On a diet, said fatty now only eats one pizza per day. He loses 100 pounds from eating pizza!!! Zomg you can eat pizza and lose 100 pounds!!!
This does not work for normal people... When TA says he gets in shape this way, it's usually going from sitting on the couch, to starting working out again. It's the working out that makes him lose weight not his non sense diet. If you already work out reasonably, and that's not gonna change (calorie expenditure), then there will be no where near the results of a more conventional diet and your health will suffer.
Also if your not competing, you CAN eat other things once a week or something and still lose.

I typed in that I wanted to lose two pounds a week. And that doesn't count the extra calories it gave me for the exercise.

I personally like the almost no carb, the Gal diet hybrid and by hybrid I do very small amounts of carbs daily but one big carb overload weekly and one day fast not food intake....
I'm not cutting yet so I'm at about 3500 cals a day....but when I do I will go sub 2000

Seems like unnecessary torture to drop that low off the bat. Based on your size 2500 would give you more cushion to eat and enjoy yourself. I'd suggest not jumping in the deep end, go a little higher and adjust over time. 2500 - record progress 3-5 weeks and adjust if needed. If you lose too much weight too fast you're going to look like saggy/skinny fat shit.

I put into the website that I wanted to lose 2 lbs a week. So that got me a 1000 calorie deficit. I'll set it back to 1 lb and that'll get me to 2500. I'll try that for a while like you suggested and see how it goes.

keep cals under control........keep protein moderate and take in plenty of carbs for energy......like mentzer said.......the body is made up of 75 percent water.......carbohydrate .....hydrate.....water.. ....meaning give your body what it needs......don't eliminate carbs.......protein can be 150-200 grams a day....and that is plenty.......keep the cals slightly under maintenance.......that along with aerobics.......moderatel y paced.....and you are off to the races.......the diets of today are mind boggling......these guys that think they need a sweet potato at two o'clock and a bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon at four o'clock slay me.
along with force feeding yourself every two hours and choking down protein to the tune of 450 grams a day!!!!

That pretty much sums up what I'm doing. Just a matter of sticking with it from now on. I eat moderately healthy, but like you said, I'm not breaking out the chicken breast, sweet potato and broccoli for each meal.

I've been lifting regularly for several months. My weight is about 275 lbs but my waist size is about the same as when I was in the 250s. Still a disgusting fat body but getting better.

I started dieting this monday. :D It's easier for me when I stay away from carbs. Instead of rice, I eat a green beans-broccoli salad. I also put some ketchup, but no more than a teaspoon. Also, coffe with stevia and some diet soda really help.

I have done that for well over a decade. Usually at least a 12 pack a day of Pepsi Max.
Diet Soda is harmless and good for you as it has adequate caffeine.

keep cals under control........keep protein moderate and take in plenty of carbs for energy......like mentzer said.......the body is made up of 75 percent water.......carbohydrate .....hydrate.....water.. ....meaning give your body what it needs......don't eliminate carbs.......protein can be 150-200 grams a day....and that is plenty.......keep the cals slightly under maintenance.......that along with aerobics.......moderatel y paced.....and you are off to the races.......the diets of today are mind boggling......these guys that think they need a sweet potato at two o'clock and a bowl of oatmeal with cinnamon at four o'clock slay me.
