My last job was at a General Practice law firm. By far, our biggest money maker was personal injury. Even non-existent injuries can fetch a few grand and settle for nuisance value. Litigation is expensive for any business regardless of size.
Anyway, one of my former clients has an identical profile to the filth described in the article.
This particular client is a morbidly obese Vietnam vet with a drinking problem. In less than three years, he brought the firm 30+ PI cases. Everything from grocery store slip and falls to police abuse, fender benders and everything in between. In addition to collecting disability from the federal gov't (phony PTSD claim) he receives free healthcare for life from the VA, welfare, food stamps, government subsidized housing, the works. Several of his cases are still pending. None have ever gone to trial. Since 2011, he has pocketed nearly $100,000 in settlement money. He drives around town in a new Escalade, wears a Cartier watch and has never worked a real job in his entire life.
Only in America.
