A big, big yawn--although I was shocked that Scorsese could've directed such a lame film.
It would've been great if they'd kept going with the original circumstances and characterization in the beginning, rather than take it in the 'the whole thing was inside his head / schizophrenia / Fight club (and numerous other movies) scenario' direction, that has now been done to death. That was a bit disappointing, cause it goes from being a "pure" murder mystery thriller to a psychological thriller like Hide & Seek.
But that's me and maybe others like it the way it is.
And STella, 2 points deducted for your review of Avatar >:(

Yeah, that's my biggest gripe with it, because it makes you feel like the time you invested in the movie was for nothing.

yeah i'm in a funk. Not satisfied at work, personal life (chicks) not existent especially since I hate the entire dating scene. Health is kinda sucky too. Blood sugar is all over, hurt my wrist so doing anything weight bearing hurts like hell no energy, blah blah blah. not motivated for anything. but to keep this entertaining, i might go see iron man tomorrow. hopefully i'll either drown in my extra large drink or slip on a buttery popcorn oil field and break my neck. either would work >:(

no went to go see it but it was sold out so saw Robin instead. maybe I will see it tomorrow. I go to the movie tavern, it's great movie is $5 and you can get beer and food there. SSaturday and Sundays is cool too. $10.50 gets you a movie and all you can eat pancakes!

The dad couldn't really do anything because he didn't have any evidence.
It's not something that I'd watch again, but with all the garbage Hollywood puts out, I thought it was nice to see something that was a little different.
I watched it with my kids and they liked it.
My expectations were pretty low, so that played a role too.

The night before last I dreamed that I was running around in a hospital and needed to get back home because someone was staying w/me. But I needed to go out of a different door so I didn't have to cross the highway ??? so I left eventually and was in an alley and there were huge sheets of bacon grilling on oversized man-hole covers. I flipped a sheet and was going to take it w/me because my husband loves bacon but then I was in a chair that was floating. I saw a lady come out on her balcony and I knew her and my chair floated up toward her balcony and she helped me get off of it and get inside. Then some weird stuff happened that I don't remember right now.

I've posted this before, but it's been several years.
All throughout high school and early college there were several of us who hung out together. The core group was Kenny, me, Kathy, Tim and Tim. One of the Tim’s parents were throwbacks and also nudists. They all had grown up with Tim (through grade school; I came on the scene around age 13) and it was just common knowledge and no big deal. I on the other hand, thought it very weird and really didn’t understand the whole concept. We rarely, if ever, saw his parents because they were either working or “camping” for the weekend. This made for the perfect party house. They always had “stash” lying around too.
One year, New Years Eve, a bunch of us met over at Tim’s to carpool downtown (about 30 miles). After the midnight champagne toast we decided to go to a party back in our neck of the woods. After a slow and treacherous drive back out to the boonies (it was snowing and we were no doubt drunk) and arriving at Tim’s so we could get our cars, Kathy and I had to pee – REALLY BAD. The boys told us to just wait until we got to the other party because Tim’s parents were having a party. Kathy and I were like “so what”, we just need to pee. They insisted we wait OR go outside, like them. Like hell! It’s too f’g cold! We begged. We pleaded. We said “WE KNOW your parents are having a party. SO WHAT”. Finally, Kenny spelt it out for us. Fine, everyone in the house is naked. So what. ::)
At that point we didn’t care, we just HAD TO PEE. Imagine our surprise when Tim’s mother and father greeted us from the top of the stairs with nothing but a cocktail and party hat. :o We were so shocked we couldn’t look up. Kenny took my hand and Tim took Kathy’s while we kept our eyes covered and led us to the bathroom. I could see fat, old, naked people everywhere! Wouldn’t ya know it, there was a line at the bathroom door! Hoping to wait for an opening and escape the sobering shock we just witnessed, I barged into Tim’s bedroom only to find an orgy going on. :o :o Kathy and I grabbed each other and hightailed it out of the house and peed outside. I don’t recall if we ever made it to the other party.
Years later, at a high school reunion, I brought this event up. Funny how Kathy and I have vivid memories of the evening and the boys have no recollection at all.

After a slow and treacherous drive back out to the boonies (it was snowing and we were no doubt drunk) and arriving at Tim’s so we could get our cars, Kathy and I had to pee – REALLY BAD. The boys told us to just wait until we got to the other party because Tim’s parents were having a party. Kathy and I were like “so what”, we just need to pee. They insisted we wait OR go outside, like them. Like hell! It’s too f’g cold! We begged. We pleaded. We said “WE KNOW your parents are having a party. SO WHAT”. Finally, Kenny spelt it out for us. Fine, everyone in the house is naked. So what. ::)
At that point we didn’t care, we just HAD TO PEE. Imagine our surprise when Tim’s mother and father greeted us from the top of the stairs with nothing but a cocktail and party hat. :o We were so shocked we couldn’t look up. Kenny took my hand and Tim took Kathy’s while we kept our eyes covered and led us to the bathroom. I could see fat, old, naked people everywhere! Wouldn’t ya know it, there was a line at the bathroom door! Hoping to wait for an opening and escape the sobering shock we just witnessed, I barged into Tim’s bedroom only to find an orgy going on. :o :o Kathy and I grabbed each other and hightailed it out of the house and peed outside. I don’t recall if we ever made it to the other party.
Years later, at a high school reunion, I brought this event up. Funny how Kathy and I have vivid memories of the evening and the boys have no recollection at all.

The thing I liked about it is they pulled everything together: acting, special effects, plot, some humor, action, drama, some cerebral stuff. It was a pretty clever story line. Not the greatest, but did make me (and others) think.

About 2/3 through the movie I realized that no one had gotten shot or killed, no car chases, no action, no sex, etc. Thought that was kinda weird. :)

Wild and crazy ride. Fun for the most part. Not a great movie, but the special effects at the IMAX were very good. Very entertaining. I wouldn't watch it on a normal screen (including a TV).

We saw THOR today and although it was visually impressive and the actors did a great job, I was bored by the story line.
Maybe that's because I never was a Thor comic book fan.
I hope that the general public doesn't feel likewise as I'd like to see this one become a major success, but I think it won't have legs after this opening weekend.
But I hope it surpasses Fast Five ... but now I seriously doubt it.
Oh yea, I don't think that they could have gotten a better "actor" to play the part of Thor. He looked the part but some of you Thor comic book fans may disagree if the comic strip character was totally different.

But after that record-setting open from the "Hangover II," Warner Bros. seems to be revving up for a third installment, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The comedy, starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, collected more than $200 million worldwide over Memorial Day weekend, breaking records for a comedy open in North America.
It would make sense, then, if Warner Bros. wanted to get to work on another one.
Although the studio didn't officially comment on its intent to go gung-ho with a third “Hangover,” it seems Craig Mazin, the writer of “Part II” is in early talks to work on the third installment. According to THR, a source at Warner Bros. said “Hangover III” is “all but a given.”

Yeah It was the an awesome scene, true to the wolverine character and possibly the funniest thing said. He said "Go fuck yourselves" It seriously made everyone laugh and was really the only time there was a curse word used in the movie. So very appropriate he was the one to say it. I'm not sure how much he made, for Wovlerine he made 20 milliion I believe. There seems to be a sequel in the mix for that too. It fits that he made a cameo due to the fact that throughout the series Prof. X was trying to get him onboard and nows all about him. PLus the fact he doesn't die keeps him a viable character for much more.

Saw Captain America last night.

Actually not my kind of movie but I was asked to see it regarding some requested comments on the elaborate 'filming technique' (special FX) that was shot so damn well during the bridge destruction scenes.......
And I gotta admit that that movie sequence was among the best I've ever seen and well worth the price of admission even if you only decide to stay for the first half hour.
I watched that part of this movie with a critical eye and have to admit that it was just about flawless.
I'm sure that the destruction of this bridge will be posted on uTube soon ... and it will definitely be worth taking a look at.
I' not familiar with this series and was surprised when each of the principal characters died throughout the film. I actually thought that there would be at least one 'hero' who would survive.

It's German and subtitled, just so you know. I hate it when American movies use English with foreign accents. Just ruins any potential.

I didn't like the girl much plus she had zero chemistry with Sam. And that scene where she goads Megatron into action was horrible. She had a nice body, that's it.
Megatron had almost no role, the actors were all lame or annoying and the script was also terrible. ROTF was at least funny.

I thought DOTM was better, but only because I thought the instant Einstein thing of ROTF was kind of cheesy.
However, I will agree that I thought it weird for Megatron to be such a damn push over by Sentinel. Yes, Sentinel was big, but for him to just roll over Megatron like that was pretty far fetched.
Megatron is an absolute BEAST (according to lore) and it was silly for Megatron to bow down, but aside from that, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was good to see Prime man up the way he did too.

BUTTERBEAN, Here's my Attack the Block review.
In a NUTSHELL ... it was well made but not enjoyable.
Not enjoyable because:
a. I could care less if any of the principal characters got eaten up by the alien ... except for the girl who they confront at the beginning.
b. It was difficult to understand what the hell they were saying because they spoke INMATE ENGLISH as someone said to me when I asked, "What are they saying?" after most every scene.
c. The ending was overly sympathetic to the bad guy gang leader. He went from bad guy to super-hero too damn fast.
That's about it.

Stunt, from what I understand is that the digitize the 2d print, then make an imaginary camera offset and produce the 3d version from that.
However, what I've noticed, is that in real life images, ie, people and the like, you never get 3d. Now, in CGI effects, 3D is very very easy to do and looks great.
I'm guessing the ship scenes will be 3D, especially all of the CGI that it took to do the sinking of it.
That will probably look great, and the rest will look especially crappy.

I'm a huge Scorsese fan and I've always enjoyed silent movies, I thought it was very well done, as always perfect camera work and the borat guy (don't care to look up his name) was funnier than what I expected for a PG movie, and a good story to tell.
My only complaint was the cost, but I will watch it again once it comes out on DVD.

It was a few weeks ago when I saw it, but if I remember correctly it cost around $30. It was a saturday night, and I guess 3D movies cost more (It was the first move in 3D i've seen) and the glasses cost a few dollars too I think.

Motion pictures are sort of a family business so we see most of the new movies the first weekend they come out and here's my personal opinion about the most recent.
WAR HORSE - I was a bit disappointed after seeing this because I expected a lot more after seeing the prevues. I think my main objection to this movie is that it attempted to tell a story with too many non-essential characters written into the script.
And each character was somehow connected with the horse ... of course.
But the time constraints did not allow each character to be developed enough so that you were concerned with their eventual outcome.... such as the two military brothers who are shot for desertion and the young girl who finds the horse in the farm-house and dies during the ensuing war.
I think that the story would have been better told through the eyes of the original owner and the horse's personal combat experience.
It was beautifully done, but too damn stretched out.
THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO .... This English version was too damn drab and too damn dreary to enjoy and no where as great as the Swedish rendition.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE ... A great movie that made my hands sweat, but a bit complicated when it came to accomplishing the impossible mission ... and since I never have been a MI fan, I was somewhat lost at the end.
TINTIN ... Beautifully done but the story was somewhat disappointing and very confusing. Plus each scene was too damn long and the twin detectives were somewhat boring.
WE BOUGHT A ZOO ... An OK story that might have been more appropriate as a TV series, but it has been getting A+ ratings so what the hell do I know!
SHERLOCK HOLMES ... Well done but I've never been a Holmes fan and this one convinced me that I never will be.
HUGO ... Beautifully photographed and a big plug for the preservation of old movies.
Some shots such as the boy's race through the clockworks was amazing.
ARTHUR CHRISTMAS ... A great film for kids of all ages. The close to final scene in which Santa and his two sons watch the excitement of the little girl on Christmas morning is classic and among the best cartoon sequence I've even seen.

HORRIBLE movie. Nobody should waste their money on this movie. Slow, contrived, too long and the worst ending since "the Blair Witch Project."
Also the only movie besides Blair Witch where when the credits rolled and I said "I want my money back."
If I'm allowed to rate a movie with a -300, this is the one that gets it.
