the more likely situation is that there were just fairly advanced civilizations earlier than the commonly accepted ones and that much of the trace evidence and mysteries they discuss can be explained by that rather than by the more far-fetched idea that it was aliens.

I saw something in the sky over the desert in AZ.  I don't care what people say, I know what I saw.  Two other people were with me also.  Whether or not it was military or not who knows.  It was a huge round light in the sky, almost like a star.  It mostly hovered, but also moved up, down, left, and right like no airplane or helicopter I have ever seen.  There is a military base here, so I am used to seeing fighter planes.  It stayed for about 30 minutes, then a huge beam of light shot down to the ground and it went away very fast.
