EL DIABLO, There were a couple of books written by MIT ‘students’ who ‘developed ways’ to win while playing Blackjack, but the main book that brought LV casino to its senses was a book called “BEAT THE DEALER” which I believe was the first such book to introduce the world to BASIC STRATEGY which I consider myself to be an expert at. (I play Blackjack at least 3x a week in Las Vegas.)
That MIT professor you sat with most likely knew Basic Strategy as every Blackjack player should .... along with the percentage of times such and such a ‘hand’ will be delt.
It’s all pretty basic knowledge now and each casino sells Basic Strategy cards in the gift shop which you will most likely see on every table which has new BJ players involved.
But unless you are a Basic Strategy expert and also know how tocount the cards accurately, the edge will still be in the house’s favor.
But it will be a very small ‘edge’. Something like .5% in the house’s favor.
Most professional gamblers will only play Poker or Blackjack or Craps if they enter a casino with the hopes of winning. The smarter ones will only play POKER.
But in each of those casino games so mentioned, you have to know:
When to hold ‘em and when to fold t’em while playing Pokeer.
When to hit or stand or double down or even surrender when playing Blackjack.
And a shit-load of stuff when playing Craps, but very important …. When and how to take the Odds. And most important …. When to quit and leave the table.
I can honestly say that I usually win whenever I sit at a Blackjack Table ,….. and I ALWAYS lose then I stand at a Craps table.
And I can’t lie or bluff to save a nickel whenever I play Poker.
I got a Poker Tell face I guess.
So I’m usually sitting at a Blackjack table with a big smile on my face beauuse I can care less if the dealer knows I’m smiling cause I have a ‘21’ in my hand.
So if you continue to play BlackJack learn Basic Strategy and stick with it no matter what …… and you’ll leave that table with a big smile on yourr face 90% of the time.
I usually win UNLESS that table is full of newbees who have no idea what Basic Strategy really is.
They will always fook it up for all …. Even though mathematically it can’t be so!
