RIP
IN the mid 70's his fan club was bigger than the Beatles and Elvis....true superstar for a generation.
Well i remember he was popular, very. Yet not for his music. Comparing him with the Beatles and Elvis is laughable at best. Elvis was and is the single most selling solo artist if all time with nearly or just over one billion units sold, same with the Beatles. By the 1970s Elvis had 2 decades of stardome under his belt and was waining in star power. That being said, in the list of top 100 charted artists of the 1970s Elvis ranked #8 with 26 total hits and 274 weeks on the charts. The number one recording artist of the 1970s was Sir Elton John with 26 hits and 338 weeks on the charts. David Cassidy? Well he did not make the list for recording artists.
He was more known for his looks and puppy love from the girls. His fan club was based on that.
