That guy was actually a faster zombie, not frenetic but not real slow. Romero lead with that zombie who wasn't one of the typical slow ones but the rest of the zombies in the movie were sluggish but determined.

He was about 82 when he made this movie. He had retired 20 years earlier, after making the very underrated One, Two, Three. He came out of retirement to make Ragtime. It was his last theatrical film.

Yes, he was great in One, Two, Three. I have most of his stuff on dvd, these two included.

Here's the entire Night of the Living Dead original movie for those interested. It's in the public domain after losing its copyright. Anyone could incorporate a scene from this and put it in their movie or video if they wanted to without having to pay for the rights.
