It is perfectly clear. More taxes on all working people, more government programs, more support with free programs for the poor and needy, penalize success and limit personal freedoms. THe larger the government, the less personal freedom we have. That is what you will vote for. Please consider someone like Rand Paul if you really want to reform government and want a revolution. Personally, I am mostly a libertarian but I'll take almost anyone over Sanders and Clinton

Bernie is what, 75 yrs old? How has he been trying to correct the problem up until now. From what it seems, he is part of the problem. Where has socialism really worked? And look what's going on in other socialist countries. Also, many of the social programs are part of the reason why the black family is now majority lead by black women. And why many of the negative issues have arisen today.
People need to take a good honest look at themselves, and the government that they have. People are more inclined to spend more time debating politics on a forum than banding together and holding the politicians accountable for their actions. If a President, and the Federal Government can get along well enough to focus on the rebuilding of infrastructure and securing our borders (which will be new infrastructure), there will be a virtual explosion in the workforce.

However, when one sees that it costs $2 million to build a mile of road in New Jersey, then we have to scrutinize the numbers and limit union influence on the final costs.
If a common sense approach to the revitalization/rebuilding/building of infrastructure in our nation, we will prosper. Further, taxpayers typically do not mind paying taxes for tangible items that they see/use every day, like well paved roads. The flip side to that is when the taxpayer is heavily burdened, and the roads don't get plowed in his/her high taxpaying neighborhood (but the "downtown" section does), the roads don't get paved in his/her neighborhood, yet a new feelgood tax is introduced to "aid" a population that has multiple sources of taxpayer funded programs.

I'm not sure but I think it could the gradual progression. If so, you would be correct in saying that we should be cautious before supporting it.
Perhaps also cultural, media and social changes over the past few decades have created the modern kind of liberal in Western socities - while countries in the Middle East and Africa have yet to experience these major changes so their liberal thinkers have remained more genuine and pragmatic.
At least in the UK, the typical liberal is now not someone I'd wish to associate myself with.

George Orwell is probably one of the world's most well known Democratic Socialists. Its strange to me that those who quote him, never know this.

Utopian ideas formed in dorm rooms across the United States are noble in theory.
However, they fail to take into account that in order to achieve these lofty goals, all members of the team need to be on the same page, know their role, and actually be willing to perform said integral role (e.g. a kibbutz in Israel).
In the United States, where we have a entire class of entitlement, the rubber can't possibly hit the road with these idealistic notions, no matter how well they work out on paper.

I don't think anyone wants to live like this, which is why nobody proposes it but it's not too far from present reality. Neocons in fact love big spending and government. The most aggressive attacks on free speech come from mcarthyite segments persuing "anti-communist" and other crusades. I don't expect these are the examples you had in mind but that's why it's important to actually consider the real world.
If anyone wants to understand what Sanders proposes as "socialism", look up FDR new deal policies and their effects.

I was talking to some people last night and many people who voted for George W. Bush are actually turning to Bernie Sanders it seems.
Their reasoning was that every Republican running is a clown and Bernie is the only one who is actually honest. You may not like what he's saying, but he tells you how he feels and can explain his position.
To them, his honesty and voting record year after year is what they find commendable about him.

Personally, I think there are inefficiencies in the military just like any other huge government program. I would cut spending in many areas since we are now officially 19 trillion dollars in debt.
I understand why we need a strong military, its not only about power but it does help protect the world from dictators and very bad groups/people. However, we should not be policing the world!
I can't speak a lot for other countries since I have only lived here but I believe strongly that we must preserve upward mobility. Being able rise up the economic ladder from being poor or middle class to become relatively successful and/or wealthy is the American dream and why many people immigrated here after WW1 and WW2. Opportunity & freedom from oppressive government rule. Same with the revolutionary war against England.
Any country that taxes their working people a lot will stifle upward mobility. Scandanavia is a good example of where it is nearly impossible for an average person to become wealthy. No, that sucks. Opportunity, Sacrifice and Reward drive people to do great things, take risks, go the extra mile (like being in school for 12yrs to become a doctor). Anytime things are just given and not earned, they are not appreciated as much. Remember, the multi-millionaires and billionaires don't make their money through salary. having high tax rates on salaried income just hurts the whole spectrum of the working middle class. I am good with cracking down on traders and hedge fund managers, etc...also good with preventing the ultra wealthy from hiding their money overseas or with fancy accountants. I am 100% for upward mobility and personal freedom.

I missed the debate tonight. The time confused me because it wasn't on a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon in the middle of playoff games. Did they fight again about who can give away the most free shit again while stealing my money?
Maybe they should have held it during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl.

I watched it. Was worst television I have seen. Boring, predictable, a bunch of whiny and "I'm so offended and outraged". Lame. This presidential election sucks on both sides. Liberalism taking over both sides.
