It's news that beer lovers such as Homer Simpson have been waiting for.
Drinking up to six pints a day is OK for your health, a leading alcohol scientist has claimed.
Dr Kari Poikolainen, who used to work for the World Health Organisation as an alcohol expert, examined decades of research into its effects.

Can I abstain for a week, and then super-nutrient/carb up?

Shizzo has been looking for this confirmation for a long time.

I follow a modified beer version of Bodyopus.
Zero alcohol content monday thru Friday, until 8 pm Friday, when I begin my re-feed on alcohol. The refeed ends with my last cesar around noon on Sunday.
I find this keeps the muscles guessing.

I like this dedicated and disciplined regimen. I think I'll try it this summer, but it'll be tough to not imbibe in summer beers by the river. Maybe I'll allot myself some alcohol cheat days every now and again.
I admire your discipline, snx. 8)

It's all about discipline. That said, IIFYAC (if it fits your alcohol consumption) then a few cheat drinks during the odd week can stoke the metabolic fires, so to speak.
Your words found their mark, my friend: I like to think I'm a bastion of regulation and control in an otherwise seemingly topsy-turvy world hell-bent on entropy, anarchy and general nihilism. I do what I can.

shizzo drooling on the peripheries of this thread.

Dark beers, stout, good ales etc like Guinness and India Pale Ales are the way to go - good beer that doesn't have any of the crap you get in the cheaper brands.
The only problem I can see with too much beer is the dehydration which could affect you're training and recovery and the potential effects it has on stimulating estrogen receptor sensitivity.
-
To much beer will give you a gut and tities. If you drink for years you will have a fatty liver that will cause or contribute to metabolic problems. It will also leave your nerves shot, disrupted sleep, liver stress, and elevated estrogen. If you drink discipline yourself to once or twice a week.
Now if I could only follow my own advices.

Beer makes me drunk. Being drunk makes me want cookies, French fries, pizza, fried chicken, milk shakes, etc.
Therefore beer is not bodybuilding food

Nothing wrong with a couple of beers a day.
I notice that if i quit for a week i get much drier, a lot less water retention (or fat ???).

"scientific" research these days is an absolute joke. Insane that most of these statistically flawed studies instantly get posted on the larger news sites.
