Bret knew ring psychology as well as anyone.
Some guys had a greater repertoire of maneuvers, but Bret knew how to make his mean the most.
In that respect, I rate him right up there with Hennig & Davey.
Mediocrity could be used to describe his mic work.
In fact, it blew so much, he may as well have just stood up there and deep-throated the microphone.
What’s surprising to me is that, despite his lack of oratory, Bret was incredibly charismatic.
Presumably, he accomplished this through his character.
Fans loved him because of who he was and what he did & stood for - not for catch phrases created by writers.
He also had a good look.
Young girls liked him.
He banged a lot of different adult women on the road.
And I think the young males could relate to him more because he didn’t posses the cartoon-ish physique usually reserved for comic book superheroes.
Guys could see a lot of themselves in Bret - except for the long hair and pink tights.
But, they were more like him than they were compared to Hogan or UW.
