The great FORMULA 1 thread - Keep informed!
« on: March 17, 2007, 08:48:39 AM »
Has the time come for Raikonen?
Will alonso do it again?

Imo it will be tight, but i think in the end Alonso will do it again.
Raikonen is fast, and right now ferrari has the edge, but Alonso has already proven himself and can handle the pressure.

Will the new names make an impact?

British driver lewis hamilton, first black guy in F1.

There was a great program about Lewis Hamilton on UK television recently.  He seems a sound, down to earth guy.

Who is Lewis driving for. That will be an indication of how well he will do. As we all know, those who have the bigger budgets tend to do well. Ferrari, Renault, Mercedes-Mclaren, BMW, the only one to buck that trend was Toyota.

Will Shuey be head of Ferrai F1?

McLaren, together with Alonso. Race ended. Results below.
Hamilton can drive fast, that's for sure. His first race and he already made top 3. Pretty soon he'll be ready for the crown.

Right now it'll be between Alonso and Raikkonen. But like you said, it's all about in which team you drive. It's a pity that the driver has been given a secondary role right now.
Ferrari and McLaren have done their homework. Renault could be the third dog, but they kinda miss a top driver.

1. Kimi Räikkönen (Fin) Ferrari in 1u25'28"770
2. Fernando Alonso (Spa) McLaren op 7"242
3. Lewis Hamilton (GBr) McLaren 18"595
4. Nick Heidfeld (Dui) BMW Sauber 38"763
5. Giancarlo Fisichella (Ita) Renault 1'06"469
6. Felipe Massa (Bra) Ferrari 1'06"805
7. Nico Rosberg (Dui) Williams 1 ronde
8. Ralf Schumacher (Dui) Toyota 1 ronde
9. Jarno Trulli (Ita) Toyota 1 ronde
10. Heikki Kovalainen (Fin) Renault 1 ronde
11. Rubens Barrichello (Bra) Honda 1 ronde
12. Takuma Sato (Jap) Super Aguri 1 ronde
13. Mark Webber (Aus) Red Bull 1 ronde
14. Vitantonio Liuzzi (Ita) Toro Rosso 1 ronde
15. Jenson Button (GBr) Honda 1 ronde
16. Anthony Davidson (GBr) Super Aguri 2 rondes
17. Adrian Sutil (Dui) Spyker 2 rondes

That is god of Lewis, there may be another Ferrari-Mclaren Battle in the works. That would be interesting. Renault might come up again  as well.

True, he def isn't Michael Schumacher.

Word on the street is that Ferrari is already getting annoyed by Kimi.

He doesn't give enough technical feedback and doesn't focus 100% on f1. Two things Michael Schumacher did excellent.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ferrari started pushing Massa more and more.

Politics? I know that Kimi has diff style than Shuey, and Ferrari should have known that as well. Can't they compromise? Or, is this an excuse to push Mass anyway?

I wouldn't say Ferrari dominates, the McLaren and Ferrari seem evenly matched at the moment, though the Ferrari seems to struggle when it is running behind other cars but is a little bit faster than the McLaren at the moment.  Looks like it will be an exciting championship!

Well I am a big Ferrari fan, I want them to own McLaren this year and get back to their championship winning ways!!! Hamilton has been very impressive this year, he may surpass Alonso as #1 driver of Mclaren if he continues improving. I think though this is Raikkonen's year, he will place well in or win almost every race.

It's safe to say McLaren is dominating.
In the GP Monaco it was

1 Alonso
2 Lewis
3 Massa

Like i suspected Massa is more reliable than Raikkonen. Lewis is already at the level of Alonso. People are calling him "the black Senna". He might take the championship. Time for him to get a GP win.
He was a bit frustrated by Team orders/actions who clearly gave the win to Alonso instead of to him. McLaren will likely be punished by Ecclestone for that.

They won't be punished, it has already been investigated by the FIA and no charges will be brought.

Raikkonen really dissapointed me at the Monaco Grand Prix, He crashed in qualifying and then failed to make any big moves in the race. It's up to Massa to battle off McLaren now, I hope Hamilton turns into a bust but that's just very wishfull thinking ;D

Update to the talks from the "WWE" thread.

Hamilton crashed during qualifying and Raikonnen and Massa are 1 & 3 with Alonso in 2nd for pole postions. Ferrari has a good chance to catch up on team points.

Holy shit!

Great race in Germany!

Hamilton kinda fucked it up, but he still showed some balls trying to get an eight place. His main rival for the championship is now without a doubt his teammate alonso.

Hamilton is probably a bit more talented, but Alonso has more experience. We'll see what happens.

The espionage-case outcome should be interesting as well. Maybe Ferrari is hoping that McLaren will lose points/be expelled?

It seems like everytime I put faith in Raikonnen he screws up, Massa is the only one who seems to be consistant for Ferrari. Massa needs to continue to do well and next year he may be the No. 1 driver for Ferrari. Alonso is great and I hate to admit it but McLaren has a great team, if only they could have the mechanical problems they had a few years back when they had Montoya, then Ferrari could win again...
