Dorian looking monstrous in 94 off season condition.

Looks awesome looks to be pre-tear?  :-\

Then again, '95 '96 Doz still looked freaky.

Jason, his gym looks no bigger than mine in the video. If you don't mind me asking, approximately how big do you think it and how much was the membership (in US $$)?

Most current gym owners don't know how to organize & facilitate a good gym. This is because many of them don't even lift.
My gym owner is a good man, but he don't know jack shit about these aspects. Instead, he's following the latest 'fitness trends' :-\

It's not a big place - I haven't been to the gym since they got rid of the old leg room and replaced it with that new one as seen in the video but it looks to be about the same size as the old one, so I'd say all in all about 2000 sq ft.

So what if most people that go there don't 'lift'? Their money worth less than the 5'3 perma-bulker with high blood pressure and cocktail of drugs yelling at himself in the mirror?

If it weren't for the fact that it happened to be the gym where THE greatest bodybuilder of the 90s trained it would've closed years ago and be a bagel shop now.

I also enjoy a dumbbell and barbell orientated gym but that's not where the smart money goes. Off course some of them will work well but for every 'hardcore' gym there's 20 fitness gyms that out earns that gym by a large margin.

From a pure commercial point of view you're dead right. Someone starts a hardcore gym for idealistic/passionate reasons, not to make a fortune.

Bodybuilders dont spend money
They go and train and go home.
Thats why bodybuilding gyms tend to close.

when I lived in London I trained at some cracking gyms

muscleworks in bethnal green
dowe dynamics in archway
skyline in catford

and even the gym box chain that sprung up was a good combo of hardcore and clean

in Liverpool there is gym21 in kenny and rem that about it

truth is the money is in dead memberships- people who join in jan for a year and never turn up

and fitness bods/ corporates

it sad but its true

one thing that does win me up is people hiding behind filthy and 'hard core'

savs gym muscleowrks has jay dee dowadu. jamo nezzar, ian wadley, brian bucahanan, pat nicholls, lenny st cyr- it was a who's who of gb bb and strength- but personal hygienie issues weren't tolerated. and nothing is more irritating than people sweating last nights curry all over the gaff

Haha, that was filmed in September 2008 - story behind it was that Quaker Oats called me out on my lift claims so I decided to have a bit of fun with it and post up a video. I shot another one about a week later inclining 3 plates for 8 reps. To be fair he did apologise and was nice to me after that  :)

By the way, the guy spotting me in that video was a Russian guy who hardly spoke a word of English - when he came to the gym he must have weighed about 20 stone of nothing but fat but trained his ass off at Temple over the next few years, dieted it all off and then built muscle on top - he stands out for me as one of the best transformations I've ever seen at the gym over the years.
I remember that!!  :D

Nice set brother!!

Hehe, all areas I wouldn't even drive through if you paid me 500 bucks. The best 'hardcore' gym I've been in where somewhere in Euston. Went there about 10 years ago and couldn't for the life of me remember the name or how to get there. Was good though.
