Title: Bare knuckle boxing - Vice documentary
Post by: The Onion on July 09, 2014, 11:53:04 AM
I can't imagine why you'd want to do something like this.  ???

The first UK vs US bare knuckle fight, among other things.

How is it possible that Darren Avey didn't post this video?

Didn't watch, but I will if somebody tells me that the corkscrew uppercut is featured.

We're approaching the point where we start seeing "Running Man" types of sports and game shows... fought to the death.  Probably 15-20 years away.  The craving for more and more brutality, blood and gore is never satisfied.  Look how much interest UFC is starting to lose.

UFC "jumped the shark" when one of their top headliners is a chick :-\

I enjoyed that, it need more trash talking, like in the Irish family fights -

.

On the bare knuckle front, I'm fine with it, if the boxers are agreeable. While a bloodier fight sometimes, there is probably less long term damage done compared to gloved bouts. The invention of gloves was mainly to protect the hands, and in a round about way, increase paydays for promoters.

bare-knuckle sucks.

risk of a broken bone in your hand is very, very real.. as is a broken or sprained wrist.

I'd done it before, but i'll never do it again w/o the money being worthwhile... I was always much, much tighter and controlled with my strikes than any of those guys.. just swinging wildly is a surefire way to break your hand or wrist. the damage to your face isn't even that bad, usually, as the majority of the strikes land on your skull (which sound like firecrackers in your ears w/o gloves).

the risk of a knockout is fairly low as well.. and usually only happens when you get tagged 'on the button' with a knuckle on your chin or behind the ear or rear of your jaw, which are all much, much harder to hit w/o gloves (which is why compact, boxing or karate-type strikes are more effective than the long, looping muay thai stuff.. muay thai punches, anyways.. not counting elbows)

Define worthwhile.

enough to make me ok with not training upper body for 6-8wks while my hand or wrist(s) heal.

hard to grip a dumbbell with a broken hand.. same with pulling on a bar.. or pushing on a bar.

i think the Yankee Boy will be good once he learns some Basic boxing skills...such as what an upper cut is, which he got ;D. Just hammering away like he did was effective up to a Point but itīs what lands square on the chin which Counts. There was skill in the Irish mans punches and power.

without coming across like esf

you can avoid a lot of injuries in a sreetfight

by fighting smart

example your knees can inflict massive damage with relatively low risk of injury

I wouldn't hesitate to defend myself if the need arose but if I can talk my way out of a situation I will, whats the point of waking up with missing teeth and broken bones.

I was referring to fighting for money, the money would have to be huge for me to contemplate that.

teeth are easily fixed and bones heal.

however, knowing in the back of your mind that you were made somebody elses bitch and embarrassed in front of others will stay with you for a lifetime. I dunno how somebody could look at themselves in the mirror after that.

I know many guys who run their mouths and 'talk their way out' when it's gonna come to blows... nobody respects them afterwards.

why? multiple reasons...

pride, respect, etc...

and your body heals and you get over it. sternums, clavicles, hands, wrists, sprained necks, hyper extended knees, torn meniscus', broken feet, horrible broken toes, ect... all heal and aren't as bad as it seems.... it's just an inconvience for a while.

Respect?
From a bunch of fuckwits, who needs respect from fools who go around fighting each other?

I will defend myself and family to the death if I have to, if I dont have to I will gladly walk away to a chorus of laughter from a crowd of tools.
I dont need the acceptance of others in that department.

If I was out anywhere and I had someone goading me to fight I would do everything within my power to avoid it ending in fisticuffs.
However if he hit me or pushed me and said  "Get outside" I would just go at it there and then, I would NEVER go outside with someone, it gives them an advantage they are not entitled to.

I wish I could have done the same all those times I was sued for assault.

Two weekends ago I was in the local club in the after hours bar. Was chatting to this girl in smoking area and I'm walking her in to the bar to get a drink (she's a couple feet behind me as I walk in the door from smoking section to main bar). A new bouncer (who was off duty) was drinking in there and stopped her and goes "what you doing with that dirty bastard?". He didn't think I heard him. I did.

I walked back to him - "what did you call me?"..."nothing!"..."no you called me a dirty bastard didn't you? Why?"..."'cos you're a dirty bastard!!"

*BOOOM*!!!! One open hand slap across jaw his eyes closed he staggered left 4-5 feet into two people then they nudge him away he falls about 10 feet into the garbage cans under the stairs. Good night, Irene. I got him fired the following week too.

edit: the guys watched it on CCTV later that night with the manager. I want to get a copy of it if I can...hilarious

I do walk away most of the time. When he was out I stopped and waited to see if he fell or what was gonna happen. It's not worth it is right. It's been at least a year since I hit someone in the face

We're approaching the point where we start seeing "Running Man" types of sports and game shows... fought to the death.  Probably 15-20 years away.  The craving for more and more brutality, blood and gore is never satisfied.  Look how much interest UFC is starting to lose.

No fucking way, UFC is the antidote to health and safety, like soft porn in a conservative world. People love taking offecne at everything nowadays, shitty time to be alive.

Not in a million years can you convince me that you are this super villain you claim to be  ::)

proof, or naw?

because if you are, then respect. If not, I'd rather listen to prime.

who says I'm a villain?

I'm not afraid of taking risks.. calculated risks. Took a risk when I was 16 getting caught smuggling from mexico... first time I got caught anyways. was 17 when I first got 'arrested'/shaken-down by Mexican police... first time in a Mexican 'jail' I was 19.. bought my share of a pharmacy in mexico at 20 and escaped 'dissapearing' with my biz partner and employees by less than 24hours in '04... list goes on and on.

perhaps there's dudes in here that are comfortable with being punked out by others and live their lives wondering "what if I did this.. or that...", or "boy, I really wish I wouldn't done...." etc... I can't do that.

Dude, no offense, I enjoy your posts for the most part. But you realize you often talk outta both sides of your mouth, right?

You make it very clear you don't respect anyone here or give the slightest fuck what anyone thinks of you. No problem. Then why go on and on with how wild you were/are, like you do want us to be impressed? I tend to believe most of what you say, but the contradiction is hard not to notice.

"I don't give a fuck what irrelevant keyboard warriors think" just doesn't make sense when you always reply with such long-winded, detailed defenses after every challenge.

Nothing personal at all, seriously.

well, it's one thing to judge me for the truth, it's another to judge me and make up lies.

if you don't like me for what' I've done or what I am, that's fine. but if you're gonna make up lie after lie, why would you not think I'm gonna clarify?

Because you've made it pretty clear you don't give a fuck what anybody thinks?

Quote
xxxxxxx could have been forced to serve as much as 25 years for his crimes, but got a lesser sentence for pleading guilty. Other than being caught driving under the influence, this is the only crime on xxxxxx record.

“He's an unusual defendant where someone whose committed this serious of a crime usually has a long rap sheet and a history of violent offences before, he's sort of an exception to that,” Hanson said.

In court, xxxxxxx calmly recounted the actions of his crimes for the judge, and said he couldn't believe what he'd done. Then, apologized for the trouble he caused. The owner of the food store was also in court and said he forgives xxxxxxx.

yep, master criminal indeed.

I have no idea about esfitness's history and stories here in getbig, at least I can't remember them and won't search his posts neither, I'm not interested.

I take it he watches way too many battle rap videos on youtube

without coming across like esf

you can avoid a lot of injuries in a sreetfight

by fighting smart

example your knees can inflict massive damage with relatively low risk of injury
now where did i put my guitar strings  8)

This.

Knees and elbows do more damage in a fight then fists and you can avoid hurting yourself in the process.

thrusting with your finger tips. donīt matter how hard you are or big even a thumb or a finger thrust in a sensitive area like your eyes can inflict severe damage and pain.
