Just read about a lady that is still breastfeeding a child that is 8 years old.

Generally breast feeding is cut-off at around a year of age, this is also the time many children are getting their nutrients through solid foods.  In many places around the world the cut off is at around two.  Although the baby is eating solid foods, breast feeding is used to supplement the diet.  They have said that extended feeding conitunes to benefit the child by provinding more healthy gut bacteria as well as vitamins/minerals.  With that being said though, I think that after 2 there probably isn't a huge benefit to breast feeding if the child is eating a helathy diet with enough fats etc.

as for quakers comments, i hear ya!

since we on the topic:

A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the doctor to come in.
The doctor arrived, examined the baby, checked his weight and found it somewhat below normal.
The doctor asked if the baby was breast fed or bottle fed.

"Breast fed," the woman replied.

"Well, strip down to your waist," the doctor asked. She did. He pressed, kneaded, rolled, cupped,
and pinched both breasts in a detailed, rigorously thorough examination.

Motioning for her to get dressed he said, "No wonder this baby is under weight! You don't have
any milk."

"I know," she said, "I'm his grandmother, but I'm glad I came."

As soon as those teeth start coming in.  ;D
Wha? Don't believe me? Ask any Mom of a teething breastfed baby. She'll have him on the bottle in no time!

99 yrs old for male babies

Males are always trying to suckle!

BTW the misses is getting thick up top (Yea!) Hustle Jr is gonna have to share after the first 2 weeks of initial feedings.  It's still my job to keep her from getting engorged.
