What about things like cash vs credit?

Better to have more debt but more cash on hand?

Here nobody accepted cash during the lockdown.

Supply shortages for consumer products will hit this month and be pretty bad in December. Sea freight is booked solid and cancellations keep happening at the last minute. I get alerts from the global carriers as i move a lot of product around.

For me, camping equipment and mountain bike products are in tight supply if you want the good stuff. We are coming into Summer and camping has boomed.

Better start stocking up on food and supplies and weight training equipment.

You might not be able to buy certain things which aren't 'essential'.

Have a back-up computer, laptop or electronics you use because if anything breaks, and it's a 3 month hard lockdown, you won't be able to get anything fixed.

I’m in NYC. I stocked up canned goods during the lockdown and it was completely unnecessary.

It’s really about keeping too much money from getting into the system as a result of the worldwide currency devaluation. That’s why I’m expecting to see a lot of restrictions during the holiday season when people travel and spend a lot.

That didn’t take long😂

Just wondering your thoughts in times like lockdowns - keeping money in the bank vs paying down debts?

Better to have 50k in the bank but 50k in debt

Or

100k in the bank and 100k in debt?

Looks like the inflation is going to be curtailed via economic slowdowns so I would just pay down the debt.

Best hedge against inflation is stocks.

Long term, you don't want to be holding cash (due to devaluation) nor need you repay debt (given ultra low interest rates). What you want to be doing is protecting that cash. And that means, investing it into income producing assets, or at least into stores of value (gold, bitcoin, collectables).

“At no time has the CDC suggested school should be closed......all school should remain open. It is the safest place for children to be.”

CDC Director Robert Redfield today.

Meanwhile in blue states...

"Gov. Gavin Newsom has ordered a curfew for all California counties in the purple tier. The curfew will affect 41 of the state’s 58 counties — a vast majority of the population.

The curfew, which the state is calling a “limited Stay at Home Order,” will be in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Saturday.

The restrictions between those hours will be similar to the stay-at-home order that was in effect in March. That means all non-essential work, movement and gatherings will have to stop in all purple tier counties. Advertisement - story continues below

The curfew is set to remain in effect until Dec. 21 at 5 a.m."

People wont do shit until they are taken out of their comfort zone. When the average person cannot drive their car to the grocery store and purchase bread milk etc THAT is the tipping point. Everything else is just posturing.

Who's ready for some good old fashioned Interment Camps?

https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2019/a99

'REMOVAL AND DETENTION OF CASES, CONTACTS  AND  CARRIERS  WHO
ARE OR MAY BE A DANGER TO PUBLIC HEALTH'

sounds mildly ominous

Correct, sadly. As long as the cheap calories are available at the drive thru, power and internet on to stay numb....nothing will happen.

They are just slowly boiling the frog at this point and the aim is socialism, lower standard of living and one world govt. In a generation nobody will be left to fight it. Not enough Gen X to turn the tide.

We are in the "information age" ... what matters is who controls the information. The UN is really worried about keeping the fear going, it seems the truth is a "communications crisis"...how Orwellian!

UN spokesperson:

"When COVID-19 emerged, it was clear from the outset this was not just a public health emergency, but a communications crisis as well," says Melissa Flemming, the UN's head of global communications."

"So far, we've recruited 110,000 information volunteers, and we equip these information volunteers with the kind of knowledge about how misinformation spreads and ask them to serve as kind of 'digital first-responders' in those spaces where misinformation travels," said Flemming.

Also, as a bonus this gem that hasn't aged well:
