Title: Seriously, Fox news.
Post by: Necrosis on December 10, 2012, 05:48:11 AM
So last year a study conducted by a bi-partisan reserach group found that FOX in fact provided more disinformation then any other network at a two to one rate.

A now recent study have found that you are actually more informed if you watch no news at all then if you watch fox. How bizzare is that?

the average fox viewer is 65. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117988273?refCatId=1275

You have moronic anchors like Bill O'reilly saying retarded things like you can't explain the tides, Murdoch is the most currupt fuck ever and this past week then even made up a news story, falsifying a driving simulator to tar MJ and driving. They used a simulator for 18 wheelers, and forced an accident after a period of time, sometimes with other vehicles swerving into the vehicle.

My question is, this is just some of the non-sense, but it's apparent they are the worst of the worst, why in hell do people support them. Despite being a right/left winger, surely there are better sources of accurate info.

So you are suggesting ratings= truth? that is the logical endpoint of your argument. While it does not and while it is in fact a logical fallacy are the tides now turning?

Your first point is a strawman, I am not obsessing nor am I a lefty. I am just pointing out that Fox news appears to be vilely corrupt, dividing a country and pandering to old men.

YAAAAAAWWWWNNN!! Articles like this have been popping for years, usually from liberal magazines, citing studies from liberal colleges.

If you don't like Fox News, then either watch something else or produce a better product. Many of these studies are little more than sour grapes, regarding the left's inability to do the latter, on cable TV.

So you are suggesting ratings= truth? that is the logical endpoint of your argument. While it does not and while it is in fact a logical fallacy are the tides now turning?

NOPE!! Check the rating since the election. It's business as usual: Fox News, towering over MSNBC and CNN. The only difference now is that MSNBC has dropped the pretense of objectivity and has come out full-bore as a leftist network.

Your first point is a strawman, I am not obsessing nor am I a lefty. I am just pointing out that Fox news appears to be vilely corrupt, dividing a country and pandering to old men.

I must have missed that, based on all of your threads about MSNBC and CNN, and their "lies" and their being "vilely corrupt".  ::)

As for Fox, supposedly pandering to old men, I guess you missed the fact that they've dominated those other two cable news network, ACROSS THE BOARD, even in the 25-54 age group. This is especially true for O'Reilly's show.

But, don't take my word for it.

Your disdain for facts and the scientific method come through nicely here. Are you suggesting that you cannot detect bias in studies nor view the methodolgy. Your claim is easy to dismiss if one was to read a paper.

I have no disdain for facts.

FACT: Fox News has been clobbering CNN and MSNBC for over a decade.

FACT: Lefties have been wailing about that for nearly as long, regardless of the outcomes of elections (one way or the other).

To that end, these studies have popped up. Maybe if liberals put half the effort into producing a cable news network that they do bashing Fox News, they'd get the product they seek.

O'reilly is the only one not going downhill. Regardless my claim still stands.

And, your claims still falls.

FOX NEWS is shameless...they are like 3333..they turn every news story into an anti-obama rant......if someone gets into a car accident they will report it and then the next segment will have a story about how Obama cut highway funds and this could have led to the accident... :D

I have started to watch MSNBC since the election...I love Rachel Maddow...shes funny and makes boring topics really fun...but MSNBC is a full-blown Liberal network....they rarely even have a Republican or conservative on there...just peoiple from the left and the far-left :D

If every news station does, why are you, Necrosis, and Blacken seemingly obsessed with Fox?

I've yet to see any of you make threads about the other cable news networks.

To answer your question, I believe Fox has goofed up at times, distorting certain facts. They're human, after all.

But, Fox has also been right on the money in many other areas, often carrying stories that the other networks try to bury, until Fox makes such a ruckus that they're forced to address the issue.

Do you think it was an accident when they listed disgraced repubs are (D) in the header all those times?

Or when they "accidentally" dug up campaign footage from the year 2000 which made mccain'd crowds appear much larger in 2008?   I mean, a "goof"?  Some research kid had to pull up tape from 8 years earlier, mix it into the new footage, and coincidentailly it helped mccain.  a Goof?   lol... can't we just all agree these media outlets do this shit on purpose?

Try that again. I qualified that by saying they goofed up at times, meaning that (for their most part) their distortions are not intentional.

That is NOT my admitting that "FOX distorts the news", meaning being done by design as a standard practice.

We all know that Fox News has more viewers that MSNBC and CNN (combined, perhaps). But, that's not the entire issue here. If the other cable news networks do it, then shouldn't they all be called to task, just on principle?

But, you don't do that and neither do Blacken, Necrosis, et. al. I wonder why!

For example, when MSNBC was advancing the narrative on George Zimmerman as an evil racist white dude (even though he's Hispanic), preying on an innocent teddy bear of a black teen, Trayvon Martin, and doctored a 911 tape to that end,  I don't recall you guys ripping the network for that.

because unlike you I see things in shades not black and white. While bias is obvious in all media, Fox downright lies, making up stuff. Look at the driving simulator, that's bullshit.

They have news contributors working directly for Romney during his campaign, they are found in study after study of all major news outlets as the worst offendors and not by a small margin. You see if someone tells one lie it's something everyone does. If all that person does is lie then it's pathological, that's fox, they are pathological news. They have negative effects on it's viewers, namely on major issues as study after study, survey after survey elucidate.

So Mcway, by defending the worst offendors with an argument that others offend also you are in fact a communist.

Most things are in black and white. That's why the relatively few grey areas need to be addressed with care.

Again, I didn't hear you, yapping about the George Zimmerman case. Did you call MSNBC out for editing the tape? Did you blast Sharpton for promoting this propaganda DIRECTLY on his show?

They have news contributors working directly for Romney during his campaign, they are found in study after study of all major news outlets as the worst offendors and not by a small margin. MSNBC had news contributors working directly for Obama during his campaign. The major news outlets are run by LIBERALS...HELLOOOO!!!! You think they wouldn't have a bone to pick with the one network that doesn't bow before Obama, as they do?

BTW, what are these so-called "negative effects"?

So Mcway, by defending the worst offendors with an argument that others offend also you are in fact a communist.

Hogwash!! If something is WRONG, then it's wrong across the board. By defending others who engage in the same activity with an argument that the other guys who do it have a bigger audience, you are not only a hypocrite; but, you fall under that old adage that liberals believe rules are for everybody.......ELSE.

MSNBC and CNN can "distort" news to their hearts' content, simply because their audience is much smaller than that of Fox News? They can have contributors who are working on political campaigns, as long as they work for Dems?

You cannot be this misguided. Then again.....

Does FOX distort the  news?  Yes or no?

Perhaps, you need Braille.

You're the one avoiding answering a simple question. I didn't ask you if others simply did the same thing. I asked you specifically WHY you continue to call Fox News out on the carpet, even starting threads about it or actively piling on to someone else's thread, while becoming virtually MUTE, when the other networks do such.

They goofed up?

Are you saying they are incompetent?

Most things are in black and white. That's why the relatively few grey areas need to be addressed with care.
not in real life
Again, I didn't hear you, yapping about the George Zimmerman case. Did you call MSNBC out for editing the tape? Did you blast Sharpton for promoting this propaganda DIRECTLY on his show?

irrelevant

MSNBC had news contributors working directly for Obama during his campaign. The major news outlets are run by LIBERALS...HELLOOOO!!!! You think they wouldn't have a bone to pick with the one network that doesn't bow before Obama, as they do?

who?
BTW, what are these so-called "negative effects"?

misinformation, actually being less informed had they never watched fox news.

Hogwash!! If something is WRONG, then it's wrong across the board. By defending others who engage in the same activity with an argument that the other guys who do it have a bigger audience, you are not only a hypocrite; but, you fall under that old adage that liberals believe rules are for everybody.......ELSE.

Not true, there are degrees of wrongness, see the legal system  or use that thing you may have in your head.

MSNBC and CNN can "distort" news to their hearts' content, simply because their audience is much smaller than that of Fox News? They can have contributors who are working on political campaigns, as long as they work for Dems?
well golly hell another strawman, can you argue without misrepresenting your opponent?

You cannot be this misguided. Then again.....

not in real life

Sure it is in real life. It's simply that, more often than not, the black or white answer isn't to the liking of many libs. So, they claim it's grey when it really isn't.

irrelevant

Hardly!! The message from your ends apparently is: "Lies" by MSNBC/CNN....not so bad. "Lies" by Fox News....HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE, ABSOLUTELY VILE!!

who?

Try Sharpton, for starters. Not to mention the former CEO (and current minority owner) of the network is in Obama's cabinet

misinformation, actually being less informed had they never watched fox news.

Hardly!! In fact, many Fox News viewers often have a leg up on those watching those other stations. Remember that whole "Memo-Gate" thing? Why do you think it was so easy to expose Rather for the hack he was, which ultimately got him fired from CBS?

Remember the whole Muslim Brotherhood issue with Egypt?

Imagine that! Lefties are actually shocked at all the foolishness, going on there (as in stuff that certain Fox pundits covered and saw coming almost A YEAR in advance).

Not true, there are degrees of wrongness, see the legal system  or use that thing you may have in your head.

That's degrees of PUNISHMENT, not degrees of "wrongness". Try taking your own advice and use that thing in YOUR head.

Stealing is wrong, period. There are varying degrees of punishment, based on the value of what was taken. But, the principle is the same. Plus, as is usually the case, such activity always stars off small and grows gradually. You don't go from stealing candy to carjacking.

well golly hell another strawman, can you argue without misrepresenting your opponent?

Not even close to a strawman. You're mush-mouthed about MSNBC and CNN. But, you yelp your brains out about Fox News, unless I missed all the threads you made about those other two networks. Maybe you should bump them.  ::)

That's degrees of PUNISHMENT, not degrees of "wrongness". Try taking your own advice and use that thing in YOUR head.

again refer to the legal system, you are incorrect. So they have different degrees of punishment for equal wrongness since there are no degrees of wrongness? ya real rational there Mcway

Stealing is wrong, period. There are varying degrees of punishment, based on the value of what was taken. But, the principle is the same. Plus, as is usually the case, such activity always stars off small and grows gradually. You don't go from stealing candy to carjacking.

We have established two things here.

1 - All news outlet distort news to a varying degree.
2 - FOX has more viewers than the other news outlet combined.  (As the claim was made earlier)

Therefore, according to Ryan Math, FOX has more misinformed viewers walking around due to their deliberate distortion of the news than the other media outlets combined.  Nice work FAUX.

Still no link to your "research"?

Then, explain what happened about six months ago, when MSNBC was in utter disbelief, regarding the results of the Wisconsin recall.

Ed Schultz and a number of his guests were still claiming the race wasn't over and there were still ballots to be counted, even AFTER MSNBC and the other networks called the race for Walker.

Did they build a bubble, afraid to look out from it?

And if you think Rove went "rogue" (which he didn't; he explained that he was looking at the Ohio election supervisor's website, which had more updated data), Shultz was nearly on the brink of tears.
