Title: Anyone ever used a squat attachment like this?
Post by: LurkerNoMore on February 06, 2013, 07:27:37 PM

PS - I really hope after the guy in the video finished speaking, he took the bar and beat the bimbo space cadet running in the back ground to death.

I built something very similar for 40 bucks from a plumbers supply store.

Just clean the barbell off the floor to your chest and squat to hell with bullshit attachments.

Getting a bit of tendonitis in the shoulder so gripping the bar the usual way is getting tough.

My son has tendonitis in his shoulder from.throwing. we have him use a safety bar to squat. Same thing with any of our throwing athletes and linemen who can't externally rotate.

Isn't your son young?

Anyway, I can't buy the bar and just throw it in my car and take it to the gym each time I go.  So I got to have something else.

The Top Squat is nice if you won't be going too heavy and have shoulder issues, the  attachment really saves the shoulders, most guys I know use them for high rep work. If you're going over say high #300's - 400's, go with a regular SSB.

He will be 16 in a few months. Baseball coach doesn't rotate the catchers enough and they wind up with overuse injuries. Can you somehow convince the owner or management to get one for the gym?

I've seen a bar that had handles like that welded onto it.

Louis Simmons' West Side Barbell swears by the "safety squat" bar for training...

I have one for my home gym and love it.

Why the fuck don't you just grab the bar and squat? What is wrong with that?

Mostly because I am a squat-pussy and I am always looking for ways to make it hurt my shoulders and lower back less.

If it saves wear and tear on the shoulders, and lets you peruse the hobby pain free, then it's a good thing.

How many of the "just shut up and squat guys" will turn into the "squats are bad" or "I can't train anymore, too injured" guys later in life because they were too proud and tough to admit that a speciality bar might be helpful?

Some guys probably have legs that can push more than than they want to hold.  I don't really have that problem.

Wrong, if you do squats in good form slow and controlled no bouncing off the bottom and they are a good knee exercise. Where people get in trouble is doing too much weight and bouncing off the bottom.

Maybe you should just try to learn high bar instead of low bar? Or front squats with straps?

Leg extensions and other machines are actually WORSE for knees than squats.

Of course, but the device mentioned is sold to help alleavate shoulder pain during the squat. It's common in injured, older and in flexible, or very large lifters during the lift. No reason not to try it, if it might help.

Also, for lighter weight, you could just wrist strap it up -

Perhaps the tendonitis in my shoulder bars any external rotation movements?   Had you read the first post you would have been aware of that.   ::)

I have the TopSquat.
I really like it.  Especially when my left shoulder is giving me issues.

Great tool for squatting with shoulder or other upper body injuries.
I had bicep tendonitis soooo bad when I was training for a powerlifting meet that I couldn't hold the bar on my shoulders to do my squat workouts...a device like this came in very handy to get my strength workouts done without killing my arms.

LOL..you're kidding, right. Are people who claim.to train really that out of touch?? Does anyone do any type of research or just do what "flex magazine" says? Fuck!

Looks like a nice alternative to $400 safety squat bar. People hate to squat so anything that can help you get through squat workouts is a plus.

Maybe just do some leg extensions then bro.

5 reps for strength 8 reps for mass 12 reps for cuts and good luck.

No, he just failed to read any prior postings on this thread before he had to spew his "Animal Pak" lingo out here.

Probably sitting around thinking BBing is a "sport".

Are you fucking insane, you got your kid pulled from a descent school, so he can chase some absurd dream of getting into the big leagues.

He`s stats are not the least bit good.

You got him juicing at a young age(you`d be an idiot if you didn`t)

And know you admit he`s already got tendinitis which absolutely destroys any chance of him going pro.

Your a fucking idiot and you shouldn`t need college to figure that one out.

Tendinitis if you develop it while young is fucking brutal, it`s the type of thing that can quickly spread too, if you already got it at a young age.

Thanks for proving what a dumbass you really are. Read a book...or a hundred.
