In yet another example of a famous dead wrestler's offspring aspiring to follow in their Dad's footsteps, there are now reports that Chris Benoit's elder son has hooked up with D.H. Smith to begin weight and ring training.

Apparently Benoit has also kept in touch with Chris Jericho. Jericho noted in his most recent book that David called him up after the murders and asked if he would still be able to attend wrestling events. Here is a photo of David at a SmackDown event, presumably from this year, and at a Fozzy concert with Jericho before Jericho's most recent departure

Poor kid. I wish him the best.
-
I dont think it would be a wise move for him to get into the business, he looks like a good kid so should try and find an alternative living. He has nothing to prove and can in no way redeem the Benoit name to 95% of fans IMO, but if his heart is telling him to do it i wish him the best of luck.

Can't be "healthy"

How many second-generation workers fail to step out of their Dad's shadow? "Benoit" is easily the absolute worst name to inherit in wrestling, and I predict that will be his biggest roadblock to going anywhere in the business.
-
Yeah, he should change his name and do something else. Even without the history, he has no physique.
As an aside, my all time top six second or third gen wrestlers:
6. Kurt Hennig
5. Jake Roberts
4. Randy Orton
3. Bret Hart
2. Macho Man
1. The Rock
Of the current crop, Roman Reigns has a chance to be something special.

With the exception of Orton and maaaybe Rock, doesn't every wrestler on that list completely DESTROY the career of their fathers/grandfathers in comparison?

Actually Larry Hennig had a very good career too. Rock destroys his dads by a mile.

maybe he didn't turn on the juice yet. look at his father and the dynamite kid before they juiced. at least he's taller.

cody rhodes career is doing pretty good, while ted dibase jr has dropped out of sight and is reduced to doing autograph shows. :'(

Rocky Johnson got more notoriety second-hand from his son than he did as an active wrestler.

I honestly doubt that anything he can do would get him a spot in the Fed. I know the old man has always loved controversy, but the McMahon's will probably never touch this kid on account of his family ties.
I may be wrong. Maybe they'll figure it's good PR to give the kid a shot and not hold his father's actions against him. Time heals all!

If I added one more to that list it would be Kerry Von Erich.

Good one. What about Barry Windham and Black Jack Mulligan?

That's a good one, too. The Ted Jr. comment reminded me that Ted Sr. was also 2nd gen. Tully Blanchard is another.

Clearly, he did not come from Blackjack's loins.

I agree this would not be good move, you could change his name but he is the spitting image of his Dad. Aside from that, he would never be able to fill his Dad's footsteps (no murder jokes pls)

He wil never shed the family "legacy."

That family is enormous, and many of them are involved in wrestling.
You've gone to some of their shows, Funkster?
