as a fan of skyscrapers you get used to hearing about all these 'proposed' towers that 'might' go up and you get all exited, only to have it either never come to light or be built significantly scaled down.

i still cannot believe they are actually building this thing.
this was one of the more far-fetched proposals in recent memory and i never thought they would go through with it....just incredible.
however they still arent saying the final height for good reason-it wont be anywhere near 2300 feet. it would be an incredible feat of architecture and a monumental feat of mankind if that building 'just' reaches 2000 feet. looks like a damn cool building too, this is really exciting.

Penis envy of course. Don't you know that tall buildings are phallic symbols. Thats why in New York thats all you see. "Mine's bigger than yours"  "No, its not, mine is..." One keeps trying to out do the other.

And I think China is trying to build the world's tallest building.

I think that UAE needs to invest their money in trying to create new jobs for their Muslim brothers so that they don't go building bombs and training people to kill. Having the world's tallest building doesn't mean shit if your in the desert, your women can't drive, and the countries in your region are trying to kill one another.
