My only complaint is that It's a 20 min match. Would love to have seen it be until someone gets a sub..

Would probably be in both of their interest to Not lose due to their schools and stuff so hopefully they dont play it safe..

That win literally made it possible for bravo to live on this for the following 10 years.

This ^^
Them being bjj-masters it will take them at least 10-15 min just to feel each other out.

The 20 minute rule was probably the gracies doing. They were always modifying the rules in their favor for their legacy matches.

No doubt. He has been ducking this for a long time. Demanding 25k and whatever. Also some sort of Pants rules for bravo in this one. Can't remember the specifics.

Officially a draw - under the special rules - but I read Eddie tooled him. The match was only 20 minutes... just like the gracies and their attorney's wanted.

I'm reading it was unanimously a one sided domination. Lockdowned and shutdown! Royler had NOTHING for Eddie even with their bullshit rules (e.g eddie was forced to wear gi pants that royler could grab... but eddie couldn't grab royler's shorts)

Gracies and their groupies have been talking shit like the first match was a fluke for over a decade. Glad that bullshit was put to rest tonight.

Eddie Bravo is legit. 10th planet is legit. Hespect him!

"draw" but in reality Eddie won. Sweeped the fuck out of him multiple times. With 10th planet stuff.

Also had one or two submission "locked" in. Or close. Royler never had anything.

I bet royler was juiced the fuck up also lol.

Good job by eddie!

Eddie Bravo is the man-----dude has some interesting views and perspectives

don't know how much a fan of the "rubber guard" I am, but to be fair I haven't studied it intensely

A lot on the line for both guys----should be amazing match (for people who appreciate the subtleties of BJJ)

Really easy to gas out beginners with a hard rubberguard while they try to escape to no avail.

I really enjoy butterfly guard due to me being so flexible and some rubberguard at times.

I have a tendency to gas myself out during warmup though

Bravo wanted pants which was agreed by Royler. Eddie then decided he wanted to switch to spats which Royler did not agree to.

Eddie requested the GI pants before he knew that Royler would be able to grab his pants.

10 plante legit? let me know when one of his students can win a major world tournement.

Gracie tries to start a fight....

"The Underground spoke to a person who wished to remain anonymous, but was back stage at the event. After exhausting himself for the 20-minute match, Bravo left the stage and proceeded to throw up as his adrenaline dumped. It was then that UFC Hall of Famer Royce Gracie approached Bravo and began to berate him.

Allegedly, Gracie threatened to kick Bravo's ass because he believed that Bravo disrespected his brother Royler, his family, and his father Helio. Bravo was apparently caught off guard by the attack, and friend and trainer Jean Jacques Machado intervened to keep the situation from escalating.

Bravo later relayed this story to a group of people back stage after the event. "

Classy brazilians as always.

Which includes signaling with his hands everytime he got in a disadvantegous position. And bitching about the restart  ::)

I like Eddie Bravo. I think he is a pretty friendly guy and his rubber guard can be very beneficial especially if in an MMA fight, in order to neutralize your opponent on the ground, while preventing strikes.

A few years back, I visited tenth planet headquarters and had the privilege of rolling with him. He looked to be in great shape for that match at Metamoris.

Unfortunately, I couldn't assimilate the rubber guard to my training, as I find that I am not flexible enough to pick it up. There are a few other guards that work well for MMA as well, including Dean Lister's guard, Penn's Damn Good Guard, the Rat Guard etc.

Royler had no answer for Bravo at Metamoris.

I enjoy the butterfly guard myself----Ive been working on some rubberguard since Im also really flexible.  NOthing better than trapping some new "spastic" dude in your guard, letting him tire out and then sweep him.

Im usually dead cause I do muay thai before BJJ----its actually good though cause it make me rely more on technique than just trying to just use "power".

Royce Gracie confirms altercation with Eddie Bravo at Metamoris 3

Seems like the Eddie Bravo vs. Gracie family rivalry won’t end after Metamoris 3.

Eleven years after Bravo’s historical submission victory over Royler Gracie at ADCC, they fought to a draw in a 20-minute, submission-only match at Metamoris 3 in Los Angeles, Calif., but the result wasn’t enough for Royce Gracie.

According to a report on the Underground, Royce Gracie went backstage looking for Bravo after the 20-minute match, and the MMA legend confirmed the story to MMAFighting.com.

"I wanted to talk to him for years, but never had the chance to meet him," Royce Gracie told MMAFighting.com on Monday. "I met him after the fight and he was there, throwing up. Royler dominated him so much, he did so much strength, that he threw up after the fight."

Royce Gracie said he liked what Bravo said on the mat after the rematch, but wasn’t happy with the comments he made about jiu-jitsu and the Gracie family in the past.

"I told him that I liked what he said after the fight, but didn’t like the fact that he always talked trash about Royler and my family," he said. "He stood up and started yelling, so I also raised the tone of my voice and told him I didn’t like it."

"He said he always gave my family credit, but I know it’s not true," Gracie continued. "He always talks trash about my family. Enough with this s---. He said he never talked bad about my family and he always gave us credit. He kept raising the tone of his voice, and I told him to shut up, so Jean Jacques (Machado) came in, said we didn’t need this and asked (Bravo) to leave."

Royce Gracie hasn’t competed in a grappling match since a controversial loss to Hidehiko Yoshida at PRIDE in 2002, and he won’t consider competing against Eddie Bravo in a future edition of Metamoris. However, he wouldn’t rule out a MMA fight with Bravo.

"Can we slap each other? Can we beat each other?" Gracie replied a laugh when asked if he’d accept to fight Bravo at Metamoris.

"I’m a vale-tudo fighter. I’m not a fighter to score points of fight with time limit. Let’s (fight) with no time limit and with punches allowed. I’m a vale-tudo fighter, I don’t compete in (grappling) tournaments."

The whole puking this is of no significance.

A lot of athletes puke after every game or match etc.

Im no where near an expert on the grappling, but anyone with two eyes can see that bravo buttfucked gracie terribly, man handled him.

Any of the altercation post match is of no significance as well. "He say, she say" etc

When was the last time a Gracie tapped?

Kazushi Sakuraba .vs. Royce Gracie. PRIDE
After a 90 minute battle of punishing leg kicks, Royce's brother threw in the towel. Gracie could no longer stand and suffered a broken femur from accumulated damage. Sakuraba would go on to defeat other members of the Gracie family including Renzo Gracie and Ryan Gracie earning him the nickname "Gracie Hunter."

From dictionary.com
Throw in the towel definition. To quit in defeat. The phrase comes from boxing, in which a fighter indicates surrender by throwing a towel into the ring.

Gracie returned to PRIDE in 2002 to fight Japanese gold-medalist judoka Hidehiko Yoshida in a Judo vs. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu limited rules MMA match. Gracie lost that match when the referee stopped the match after Yoshida had sunk in a deep gi-choke. Almost immediately, he contested the loss stating that he was fully conscious when the match was stopped. Later backstage, the Gracies demanded it be turned into a no contest, and an immediate rematch be booked (with different rules for the next time). If not, the Gracie family would pull themselves from PRIDE FC, and never fight for them again. PRIDE, wanting to keep the Gracie family with them, accepted their demands.

Yup, his whole gracie family - including Helio - was in the corner and they threw in the towel. Quit on their fucking stool.
