holy fuck...he squatted that like nothing...some people are so gifted...he looks skinny but his thighs look large

i could never get squats to feel natural...always felt awkward and i am 5'9 which you would think would work perfect...now i wont touch them with a herniated L5

No way in hell that was 695.  I'm not taking anything away from RG3, he's 10 times the athlete I could ever dream of being.  However, that bar stayed stiff the entire time, and he pushed it up like nothing.  If he's really doing 695 with that much ease, his true 1 rep max is probably close to 800.  Horse shit!!!!!

He's using a yolk bar, it won't bend and Athletes Performance is legit. No bullshit in that video. I've been to the one by me in Carson at the Home Depot Center.

luck is a genetic freak and will be durable.   RG3 may get hurt, true.

but mentally, RG3 has that kobe mentality... like that wolf look in his eye.  He'd curb stomp someone, step on the neck to finish em.    Luck looks soft, grew up rich and always knew he'd be nfl royalty.   not hungry and desperate for it like RG3.

I see your points, but that's a Hatfield bar, and they don't flex under heavier loads the way a "normal" bar does.
Also, the biomechanics of the movement are slightly, but noticeably different when using that bar. I was always able to use a lot more weight with it than a straight bar; and I was never a serious leg guy.

Still a very impressive lift.

Every person i've ever seen use a yoke bar could use easily 200+ more pounds. You don't even have to worry about the weight on the shoulders and you can use your arms to pull yourself up in the cage. Anyone who can squat in the 400's can put over 600 with a yoke bar. Hell with the padding, you can't even feel in on your shoulders.

I'm still calling BS.  I went back and watched the video.  They show 695, and he says 695, and then they show a different frame.  I don't think he's got 695 on the bar when he's lifting.  I can't tell, but it looks like 5-6 plates that he's actually lifting.  Watch RG3's lift again, he goes down, grunts, and then throws it up so fast, it bounces at the top.  For frame of reference, here's IFBB pro Tim Martin doing 700 x 1 on the hatfield, and he's having much more trouble than RG3.

Alot of people need to visit football HS/college locker rooms. In HS we had guys doing insane lifts...in HS. I hit 500 squat no prob at 185-200lbs 5'11". 410 bench but couldn't power clean for shit past 225lbs during Iron Man Day (Max Day for football players).

Had a WR at 175lbs 6 feet that could power clean 315lbs as smooth as I ever seen. we had guys 300lbs that couldn't do it.

Some guys (football) are just cocky like that.

That's amazing!  You were less than two pounds short of the USAPL squat record and blew away the bench record by nearly 30 pounds!!

I know you are trying to be sarcastic, but in HS or college nobody gives a shit about lifting records. It's all locker room Iron man shit. Being the strongest guy in a certain lift or overall points on the team.

Like I said....go visit a HS or College locker room....you will see some insane shit.

You cannot compare a legit strength program to someone on gear. if anything it weighs itself out. If the dude thats on a ton of gear is getting 700 imagine what he would do on a sound strength program. Do you know the difference between a bodybuilding program and a strength program?

I have 3 squatting 500 off a 14" box. One is a 195lb running back. I have one 270lb lineman benching 395lbs. Two are Juniors.

No...I just have a hard time believing RG can squat 695. He's one hell of an athlete and I'm not trying to hate on him at all.

the sports clinic he's working with there -

Their entire job is to overhype an athlete and make him look bigger and faster and stronger.

So yeah, a little creative editing to make ppl think he's moving that kind of weight is cool and all, but NFL scouts roll their eyes at that shit.  They know how big and strong a dude has to be to move that tmuch weight.
