I am leaving the office, but I would LOVE to discuss this at length. For now, I'll simply say that oats, beans(red and black), yams, and brown rice should be consumed in abundance, in conjunction with a lean protein source such as chicken, talapia, turkey, tuna, or 96% lean beef in every meal. My carbohydrate intake NEVER falls below 300 grams per day. My fat intake is LOW, and I supplement with Fish oil and EFAs. I believe in consuming dextrose with insulin potentiators such as ALA/Cinnulin-PF in the AM and also PWO.
Now, many of you have heard of CARB cycling, but I have designed a dieting protocol called "Calorie Cycling", which is much more effective for preserving lean muscle tissue while losing bodyfat.
As for your "protein cycling", I have tried it and didn't enjoy the results at all, I felt it was harder to lose fat and gain muscle on restricted protein, even with sufficient calories for energy substrate. I DO however believe in manipulating amino acid timing.

protein cycling doesnt make sense to me. amino timing does. as does taking in 1.5grm in protein or better of body weight for enhanced trainers. as does calorie cycling as long as protein requirements are met (provided you are training and still on at this time).
the carbs/fats debate i think is more determined to a persons genetic predisposition to either or. i dont think any one approach is a cut-out for everyone to follow. you have to find what works best for your own body.

however at first glance i see nothing that can not be explained by simple body re-composition, which happens when you adjust ratios of macronutrients i.e. increasing protein in someone who eats less than they should would obviously produced more muscle, not to mention the fat burning/repartition effect that goes along with every new pound of muscle. however the data available from these case studies is lacking - there are far too many variables unaccounted for. He also must have changed something in their training/ and or pre/post workout nutrition that would effect hormones favorably, to produce better strength/hypertrophy gains, greater fat loss effect.
the bottom line is when every calorie is counted, when every rep and set is accounted for, when every mile run is recorded, when every piece of food is noted down - we are left with the ultimate truth in human nutrition - a calorie is a calorie.
if john increased these subjects calories while keeping the exact ratios, and exercise routines the same or if he produced this effect in a metabolic ward setting - then he would have proved a calorie is not a calorie - he did not.
i have a feeling these 'case studies' of his will remain 'case studies' and never see any peer review process.
don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying these are not impressive changes - at the end of the day that's what we are all after.

I have read a lot of literature on dieting and lifting over the years - I am pretty much self-taught. I do post about dieting or lifting seriously once in a blue moon (I think I might have made about 20 - 30 serious posts in length out of my thousands of posts, the majority of which are just about trolling), but I'm not really interested in discussing those topics here - you'll see that I've not made a single post in the Nutrition or Training board, even though I'm here most of the day.
I've trained well over a couple of thousand people IRL over the years and have gotten nearly all of them excellent results. Nothing ground breaking, but enough to make a difference in the way they look, feel and can lift, which is all they were after. Maybe guys like you like to keep reading and discussing the stuff endlessly, but for me, they were / are always a means to an end. I don't avoid reading posts about them here, but don't go out of my way to read or discuss them either.
Plus nearly 99.99% of the people I meet IRL always start talking about lifting & dieting at some point, and then get to asking me for advice, so the last thing I want to do is discuss it here as well. Which is why you'll never see me posting studies here or getting all worked up over it.

I never received my product, and when I contacted the company they at first verified the order number and said they would send it out. I then waited another long period of time and got nothing. For an ultra-gifted man with an IQ of 160, you should at least spell the name of the test you took correctly. It's "Stanford-Binet" and not "Standford Binet". I guess the psychologist who gave you the test forgot to include the verbal sub-set batteries of vocabulary, verbal recall and working memory when he gave you the test.

Bodybuilding is not rocket science. To assume that a man with an intelligence above your average Nobelist in physics would find bodybuilding intellectually stimulating enough to make it the focus of his life is sophomoric. With so many more challenging fields with so much more intellectual relevance, why choose kinesiology/sports' science/bodybuilding? Besides, bodybuilding is a purely physical pursuit and the ultra intelligent invariably scorn purely physical pursuits. I am not aware of any super intelligent people who are interested in bodybuilding as the primary focus of their lives. Where are these geniuses? Writing for bodybuilding mags? Lol.
But let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that this man with an intelligence on the level of Kepler decided to dedicate his life to studying a field as "hard" and intellectually challenging as bodybuilding. Ok, so where are his brilliant thesis on kinesiology and physiology as it relates to bodybuilding? Why haven't I read anything that he wrote? With an IQ closing on Darwin's and Maxwell's, he should have easily settled the issue of which is the maximally effective way to train and eat and the absolute best stimulus to induce muscular hypertrophy to the maximum degree possible as fast as possible. His theory should be insightful, elegant and possesed of perfect logical consistency. This is what I would expect from someone with an IQ of 160 that made this the focus of his life. Mike Mentzer had an IQ of 135 and he came up with a logical theory that tried to explain which is the best stimulus for muscle growth. Mentzer strikes me as being a lot more intelligent than this Erstling guy, so there is no way in fucking hell that this moron has an IQ of 160.
