if you have no idea about a specific business, is there a point in pursuing it?

Only if you're smart enough to know WHO to take advice from,
...and be smart enough to follow the advice once given, ...but I guess that depends on the kind of business.

I would say that if you are interested in a particular business, you should learn as much as possible.......that includes reading, talking with people, getting various opinions regarding this business and most importantly, trying to interact with someone in your town that is an authority on this type of business.

i'd probably spend every free hours for a month reading about that business.  Forums, how-to books, etc.  Then apprentice for next to nothing and steal every mental note that I could.

There are some ppl out there... who just have the mindset and skillset... that you could throw them into any situation in any industry, and they'd flourish.
