a lot of "Traditionell" schools of WC / VT donīt have Ground fighting but as i wrote before on this thread some WT schools here in Europe have added it to their systems.
Still not up to the standards of say BJJ or some other arts.

Two guys flailing away with sticks. ^

Doesn't look like much skill involved.

obviously youīve never tried Escrima/Kali & letīs be honest "skill" is practiced but reality in sparring looks different.
Look at Karate-do kata looks all very nice but then look at competition.

Those dog brothers vids are just two guys beating each other with sticks.

Then they wrestle until one tackles the other.

Yes, no doubt getting hit hurts but there is little skill there beyond sheer aggression.

I'm not talking about real highly skilled stickfighting like you refer too.

Dog brothers is a system that tries to be "real" & incorporates techniques from other martial arts.
Real street fights donīt look like Hollywood films.
I would say that anyone who really can have an opinion on it should have at least tried it.
I train in another system but i have visited seminars from Dog Brothers. Remember one youTube video doenīt show the whole system

Apparently their "system" is beating each other with sticks and then wrestling.

It is what it looks like.

The "real-ness" is beating on someone with a stick.

What technique is it other than that?  Ordinary footwork maybe.  Throw in some punches and kicks.

Is it effective in a fight?  Yes, just like beating someone with a club is effective.

Beyond that, other than aggression, there is not much going on.

as i wrote before try their training & sparring they do & then you can maybe contribute to their system, at least where they train in your area.
You do have a good point though raw aggression can beat skill .. so maybe itīs better to train in a realistic manner?

I bought Wally Jay's Small Circle book a long time ago.

Good stuff.

I didn't have anyone to practice with so never learned any of it.

Donated the book to the local library.

I first heard about him from a PTI instructor who was a mate of mine in the Army. He knew a few good things & i loved the wrist & finger locks.
very hard to do but effective when done.
I always in Judo went for the elbow locks.

Interesting is the techniques in escrima /kali  which are pretty realistic ( against a blade itīs very hard ) however the logical thinking behind it in the "Tapi-Tapi" is not so bad.

I was reading this morning that he did integrate techniques from Wally Jay into his system of Modern Arnis as well as Karate, Judo & probably Aikido.
