Nah, the "democracy and freedom" mantra roots back in day when other places were more authoritarian.
No question about that United States was among the first, if not the very first, to give so much freedom for citizens, business etc.
That's not relevant anymore though. It's just like any other old outdated sayings that live in peoples minds despite their lost relevance.
Practically whole Europe is much more free.
American people for example still don't elect their president on their own but use this "elector -system" - system we had in practice during the darkest days of cold war.
Two dominating parties make it impossible for new, fresh ideas to emerge. we for example had this huge shook up in political field just over a year ago when people in masses wanted something new and voted new party to become the third largest.
In government there are right now about 6 parties represented plus two in opposition in parliament.
This is true political freedom, democracy.
Not even going to that there are places where you can practically do what the fuk ever you want, but political freedom on the other hand is restricted.
There are probably not too many places on Earth where there are more restrictions and laws than there is in USa.
After all, concepts of democracy and freedom are very flexible in human mind as is shown constantly in form of double standards regarding same kind of shortcomings in different countries.
