No doubt - Cornell is an amazing singer. His voice is amazing, and the fact that he hasn't blown it yet means he's a genetic freak (although I don't think he can sign Birth Ritual anymore, which is a freaskish vocal display - listen to it if you haven't. He's off the charts amazing on it). He's not in my top 5, but certainly top 10 for me.
If you like Cornell, you might also like Ian Thornley, of Big Wreck. I love what he does on this song to close it out. Very Cornell-esque, but in his own way. Gritty and melodic in very masculine fashion.
cool song. dude can sing, I'm always up for shit i don't know
Yeah dude I heard "birth ritual" 20 years ago when it came out...Killer song. I got into Soundgarden when they released Louder than Love in 89. Early Cornell was a bit screamy, all highs all the time, as impressive as it was, it was a bit much... but he was just a fucking kid...then he really started SINGING on Badmotorfinger. and to be honest, I think his best singing ever is with Temple of the Dog
EDIT : That's why i posted the "hands all over" video.....I was pissed about it 20 years ago when pearl jam ripped them off....LOL
