Not really. A few cigs a day won't get you in trouble. Smoking more than that is unwise.

They decrease the likelihood of Alzheimer's disease by stimulating an increase in dendrital density. And, even though nicotine is not good for your cardiovascular system, the relaxation caused by it by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system actually decreases blood pressure, so it even outs in the end and smokers might actually have less hardened arteries than non-smokers due to the fact that every time they are anxious they relieve it with nicotine - nicotine is a powerful anxiolitic -, while non-smokers have no outlets.
