Timeless Physiques...
« on: June 02, 2009, 09:07:39 PM »
These guys looked great in their prime, and Zane.... geez! He still looks fantastic. Something about these classic physiques seems to have fallen by the wayside.

Granted, if you are accustomed to seeing the monsters, it takes a little re-adjusting to appreciate the difference. Guys like Zane never looked big in regular clothes either.

For those of us that are getting older, these guys are inspirational. Larry Scott still has those huge fucking guns too...

Orti'z son looks like he inhereted some badazz genetics from his daddy

I don't remember who this last guy is, and I wonder what he looks like today.

I never found Zane to be anywhere near ultimate in terms of aesthetics and symmetry despite the hype and i believe, some underserved Olympias.

Ya that's Rick Wayne, one of THE top BBs of the late 60s. Right there with Scott and Ortiz for best arms of that era and probably the first time i saw that level of vascularity and muscle that is now common but was quite rare then. After being an excellent writer for Weider post BB career, Rick moved to his home St. Lucia where he publishes local papers i believe. After he retired Wayne liked eating and has at times been disturbingly unlike his former appearance, as in plump.

you are correct, Pumpster......Rick is publishing papers back in St. Lucia. Man did he have a physique!!!!! Maybe, the best to never win the Olympia.....next to Levrone, Ray, Wheeler and Benfatto. IMHO

Let's face it, it's not a coincidence that most BBs who should have but didn't win the Olympia were not white.

Also, personality is factored in to who will win, which would be fair if it were part of the rules, and should be. 1983 for example i think Fox even though he should have been sharper, was as cut as Samir but bigger and more balanced, but personality entered in to it, which turned out to be fortuidious given what happend to Fox and how that would've reflected on the Olympia.

Fox was just never refined enough...at least to win the Olympia....other shows, yes....the Olympia....lacking that something, kinda like Cormier

I already said that. Check the video; even lacking some refinement he was still at least as cut as Samir and bigger with more balance.

Actually it's the reverse once the video is watched, Samir doesn't quite stack up.

But that's contest politcis for ya-very common especially in Weider shows.

Fox had himself to blame though, if he'd come in ripped like he was at other shows a couple of years earlier he'd have been too good to deny the win.

Ortiz looks badass in that pic with Scott.

Rick Wayne also had a badass physique.

Yip one of the best ever especially when you take note of what was "available" way back then witch IMO is very very little if anything being used @ all in bb circles, the guy was very close to perfect

Dave had a massive back for the 1960s early 70s, Robby along with Franco and co raised the bar again in the early to late 1970s
