Title: Breakout star of 2014
Post by: littleguns on January 29, 2014, 02:59:59 AM
Aside from Daniel Bryan....who will truly shine this year??

I would love to see Caesaro get pushed big time.....

Caesaro is impressive in ever single way, severely underutilised. Big, ridiculous strength, agile, can actually wrestle, he needs a singles push.

Ambrose, Roman, Bray Wyatt.

Wyatt reminds me of heel Jake Roberts.

If things go right then Reigns will be THE star of 2014

Anyone see that Caesaro has been aded to Elimination Chamber?? Now of course he isn't going to win BUT this could be the start of something.

Agree.

I heard him in Colt Cabana's podcast. He's a nice guy, but not much personality.

I'll go with Dean Ambrose. Not the most physically gifted guy on the roster, but has that "It" quality that makes you pay attention to what he's saying.

Paul Heyman is showing how effective that can be, i would love to see the return of "families". Stable feuds would be an untapped resource for the modern era, i used to love seeing Heenan, Hart etc attacking faces and building up PPV's by the faces then going through them 1 at a time.

HHH got smart. He lost that silly blue blood gimmick, went to Vince got on the sauce hard, reinvented himself and became the game. You need to open your mouth and talk. Thats why Hogan..Rock...Stone Cold are all successful.

And, over 90% of the guys today can't do that.

Reigns is potentially the best prospect right now.

Wyatt has impressed me so far, as I didn't believe the gimmick would work at first.  I still think they need something adding to really make them click, but they're on the right road.  The problem is that it's completely a one-man show, the other two 'brothers' have nothing about them other than size.

Cesaro is talented, but I agree with the others that he's lacking in charisma.

The one I can't agree with is Ambrose.  He just seems to be trying too hard with his character, so he comes across as cartoonish and exaggerated.  If he could tone it down a little, I think it would be better.  Rollins is OK, and they'll flip him face when the Shield breaks up, but he's going to be another Kofi Kingston type guy, good athletic ability, but he's got nothing other than that as far as I've seen so far.  Reigns is the one to watch, big guy, strong, aggressive with a good look.  He's got a decent bloodline behind him as well, which can't hurt!

yeah i wasnt sure which direction they were going with the wyatts. seemed to be going in circles and not really accomplishing anything but the cena angle is a good one i think, going after the company golden boy and all.

The problem with the Wyatts is he is portrayed as an anti-authority figure but he's not attacking the Authority.

Now, they're feuding with the Shield for no particular reason. This will probably last cor one PLV then it's back to square one, as you said, circles.

I'm not as high on Reigns as everybody. Sure, he has a look and athletic ability but his mic skills could hold him back as a singles  face. As a singles heel, he'd make a good Heyman guy.

I'm not sure if he's been given chance to really show what he can do with a mic, as they've let Ambrose do most of the talking so far.  Granted, he could be awful, but I'd be interested to see how he does given a proper opportunity.

Do have to agree with Bray Wyatt as well. Word on the street is him vs Cena at WM30

Speaking of, Bray is Rotunda's son, what happen to Wyndham's son? Is he still in NXT?

If Cena allows Bray to go over at Wrestlemania, this will catapult Bray to the stratosphere.

Foley recently tweeted....."Bray is more Mankind than I was"..

Dude supposedly scripts his own promos......

Yeah he's very good on the stick. Reminds me of Jake Roberts.

YES! I have been a big fan of Bray Wyatt's recent stuff, he definitely has what it takes in terms of mic skills and connecting with the audience. I just wonder if his gimmick is too specific for him to become a consistent main eventer. It would help him immensely to go over clean against Cena at WM (it wouldn't hurt Cena either, especially if it sets up a return gimmick match at the next PPV).

I think Bray Wyatt's gimmick will keep him going for quite a good run. Great faction..the wyatts.

So, over a half year in and let's see where we are:

Cesaro - Completely fell off a cliff. Doesn't even have match at Summerslam.

Wyatt - Feuding with Jericho, but, IMO, the character is getting a bit stale. Recently got a "what" heckle from fans during a promo.

Rollins - Feuding with Ambrose, aligned with HHH, but hasn't really taken off since the Shield breakup.

Reigns - Still on course to be the man, but still hasn't shown mic skills good enough to shut up detractors. My guess is that Vince is having second thoughts.

Ambrose - IMO, the most over of the group. The fans have really bought into what he's doing both in the ring and on the mic.

Right now they have the most stocked roster they have had in a while, stars in the making but are dropping the ball left and right.

One minute Caesaro is a heel and overnight he is a face HUH?

Ambrose has that Brian Pillman, loose cannon gimmick.

Wyatt - Heel or Face?

Big E, Woods and ??? - Faction one day and gone tomorrow??

NXT also has Devitt, Japanese guy, Sami Zayn and the champ (whose name I forget)....they will drop the ball on them as well.

When did Cesaro turn face again? The last time I saw him on RAW, he was a heel and he lost to Jack Swagger. Earlier this year, he owned Swagger; now, he's tapping out left and right.

I'm noticing a pattern here. A number of the former WWE/World Heavyweight champions that are being buried are the ones that became champ via MITB cash-ins.

I realize Ziggler technically got his first World title via that gayness of winning via DQ with Vickie Guererro as the ref. But, still.....
