Fantasy matchups that weren't as you expected
« on: April 05, 2011, 10:17:36 AM »
Can you think of any fantasy fights that happened, but totally bombed or weren't as good as you thought?

Silva vs Belfort- Disappointed it didn't go longer, but if it did the end result would have been the same.

Tank Abbott vs Kimbo Slice- Pathetic

I'm thinking of others..

Great Topic!  ;D

Forrest vs. Bonnar II
BJ vs. GSP II
Rashad vs Rampage

A little off-topic, but one of the most exciting fights I never expected to be exciting was the Silva vs. Sonnen fight.  I'll never forget that fight.  I was on the edge of my seat the entire time in disbelief of what Sonnen was doing, knowing the entire time that he could get caught any minute....and sure enough! Damn.

Silva and Sonnen is to me a legendary fight. One of the best ever and I had no idea it would go and end like that, incredible. Page vs Rashad was a letdown, but honestly Evans was never an exciting fighter. Shogun vs Liddell was sort of a letdown too..
Im sure there are plenty others..

Good catch...I meant Forrest vs Bonnar II, but now that you mention it the Forest vs Tito II sucked as well.

Tito vs. Vitor was pretty lame.  Gsp vs. just about everybody he's fought after being KO'd by Serra, I think he's got a good shot of breaking that streak though given the poor stand up skill set possessed by Jake.  Royce Gracie Vs. Matt Hughes-I knew it would end like that but it was still pretty hard to watch.
Predictions
 40/61

Cro Cop vs Fedor was to this day the most epic technical heavyweight fight ever. The speed, timing, accuracy, striking efficiency of both fighters was off the charts.

Shamrock vs Severn was a pathetic letdown, felt like they circled each other for hours  :-\

And I believe Rogan would take a dive in that fight to better the company, and to make Dana look unstoppable.

Defo Penn V GSP 2.The hype surrounding that fight and Penn sucked!

OMG. so I'm not the only one!!!!

actually dana white vs. anybody

but we all know in reality dana white would pay them off large behind thr scenes to somehow win with an armbar or guillotine

Mark Coleman v. Randy Couture was the worst fight I have ever seen on a paper view card.

Forest Griffin v. Anderson Silva was a joke

Rashad v. Rampage was a huge letdown

Mark Kerr vs Igor Vovchanchyn. I remember back in 1998 I was so excited to see this fight and when it finally happened it was a huge let down. Mark Kerr at 260 lbs ripped pounds being kneed into a coma by a short pudgy little guy.

Wandy vs Chuck.  It was a decent fight but there was no KO.  It's kinda like banging a hot chick but never shooting your load...

Coleman vs Couture was a few centuries too late. Would have been a good fight in 2000
