Electric bill.

Just got my electric bill and it was 337.97. Unreal, it usually costs 160-180. Anyone else getting crazy electric bills.

Yep...

3 of us are working from home full-time here.
In summer w/ pool, it goes up to 600.00 a month...

Whackiness...

I always get my threatening email telling me how bad I am, and neighbors are "good"  ::)
(The ones whose houses are empty all day)...

get yourself a treadmill with a dynamo on it and you can charge batteries while you walk your 9 miles a day

Mine was up as well...120 dollars...usually its around 70-80 dollars but I had the heat up a bunch

No it isn't....you honks can install some solar panels but its easy to just be more conservative with things.  Change your bulbs to L.E.D's, don't leave lights on that you're not using,  get one of those temp regulators for your home....etc.


Otherwise, you can always move in a mobile home and away from the lib cities out in the country like I did and escape the matrix.  My E-home is quite efficient, power is dirt cheap in Piedmont along with everything else.   The choice is yours

It isn’t crazy increases down here like Europe.

Winter. Aircon going all day. Lights on all day. TVs going. Big house. US850 for that Qtr. Dirt cheap as I was expecting double.

I will point out the temp you set for aircon is critical. In Winter I believe we use 23.5 and in Summer we use 22.5 (degrees). makes a massive difference to energy consumption whereas if you cranked Winter to 27-28 it’ll use twice as much power.

we went to using the wood stove for almost all heating this winter. otherwise electric bill would be like 1500$.. backwards times of peace....

Yes.  Happening here too; my neighbor and I were talking about it a couple months ago.  Electric bill seems to have doubled but I know I haven’t been doing anything different.  I looked into solar… twice.  The out of pocket expense was so huge you’d never recover it so I passed.

Installers told my inlaws it would take 30 years to recover the costs. "Nope, we'll be dead"...
