IMO the show jumped the shark when (1) jackie left, (2) H got divorced, (3) after 9/11 when they refused for the most part to touch on politics when it would've been poignant and appropriate to do so, enhancing the show without downsides. Instead it looked kinda superficial in the context then.

I saw jackie by himself at a book signing in lower manhattan before he left, felt like telling him not to make waves again because eventually they'd call his bluff, which is what happened. Even so, H could've stepped in and paid him more and should have but was too cheap and too proud. Artie's OK but the chemistry changed.

Also agree with Jay Leno's recent comments that H is no longer relevant in pop culture now that he's on satellite.

Simmons wasn't a favorite guest of mine but i can see why some liked him.

I don't know what happened, I cracked up at him calling Howard a "dehydrated diabetic".  HAHAHA

The one where he was talking about his brother missing or something was kind of sad though...

Stern got millions and millions of fans to follow him to satellite, and pay $15 a month to listen.  That's far from irrelevant.  Who even watches Leno?...and it's free.  Def not the $$$ demographic.  Leno had no choice but to comment, b/c Stern rips him a new arsehole a couple of times a week.  Did ya expect Leno to say positive things?

IMO, the Stern show is much better now than on terrestrial radio days.

Sounds like someone who hasn't listened from the 80s thru late-90s. Not only has the show changed alot, he's mellowed with age and success. Not the edge it formerly had-jumped the shark relative to what it was-no one listening now wants to believe that, of course. :D

Leno's absolutely right, whatever his motivations. Stern's not relative to culture anymore, only to a niche satellite audience now.
