Meditation is hard because you mind always wants to think about something and you get lost in the thoughts.

No, but I am going to set up shop and start making/selling copper pyramids to rich women.  Got a ton of 1/2 copper and fittings!  ;D

I've dabbled in it and am no expert by any means. The meditative practices are not supposed to be practiced at random but are rather a part of an overall practice. To my understanding the correct practice can only take place with the direction of a teacher, so i would be weary of 'advancing' your practice on your own. There are also many cults and false gurus out there so you have to be careful.
The basic practice of mindfulness meditation is safe enough to practice, and i used to practice the mindful breathing exercise. I have to admit i wasn't dedicated enough, but its good to settle down your mind in the presence of so many distractions in the modern world.

Yeah, meditation is a big word. It can be many things from a religious practice  to just a way to calm down and relax your mind. I've done it off and on for many years and am doing it mire now. Very relaxing and insightful.

Some topics to google and or YouTube. Self realization, kriya yoga, Eck, self hypnosis.

I practise Zen meditation since Feb. We meet every Saturday morning. This morning, I almost fell asleep during the two 20 min zazen (sitting) sessions, lol

What's the function of that pyramid? Why would it enhance the experience?

Copper pyramids are supposed to act as conductors for energy so sleeping and/ir meditating under one will enhance your meditation. I've never done it personally

There are certain similarities, like focusing your attention, keeping a good posture and counting your breaths/reps.
The differences? Join a meditation class and find out.  :)

I used to but my mind wanders and I'm too lazy to set aside 15 minutes to dedicate towards it. It sure helps though. I should try it again but I'm so fucking lazy... >:(

I hear you. But it's like anything else, the more you practice, the better you get. It's worth it.
