It could also be argued that Arnold wasn't at his best in 75. Didn't Butler/Gaines of Pumping Iron convince him to compete once more just for the movie? I remember reading somewhere that Arnold wasn't in his best shape when this was done. He does look better in 74. So both Serge and Arnold are off, Arnold wins, hopefuly that kills the controversy.
I appreciate your guys' comments...interesting. It doesn't matter if Arnold wasn't prepared/at his best or if he only competed to promote a movie. There's no excuse for them to publically slander Serge's name and image personally and professionally and ban him from competing until his spirit and physique are broken down he's so sick about everything he can't train or eat. If Serge had done any porn, he wouldn't have been able to do 25 films and become a famous actor; porn is the kiss of death to any serious acting career...especially back then. There is a french message board and a million people on it today who think Serge is God and tell him every day. But like Steve, not many in the States know of Serge that well over here. He's famous only in Europe for his acting. Steve Reeves was the #1 movie star in the world in 1959. There are people here who don't know about his acting except for maybe Hercules. It's terrible for Ben to write in a book over 30 years later that says Serge is basicallly a sleazy jerk in order to discredit him or anyone who might try to tell the truth later and to cover up the wrong that was done decades earlier. Serge is classy and one of the nicest guys there is. Go read his thread here and you'll see he helps people even when there is nothing in it for him. They took away from Serge because he looked better. They had been promoting Arnold with Weider products, not some independent french guy who looked good without any help. If you challenge someone to a race and break his leg right beforehand because you know you're not in good enough shape to win without doing something bad to the competition, you're not a real champion if you win...or a trainer of champions either. Serge worked hard toward promoting the sport of bodybuilding in a respectable way; the sport is important to him, so the fact that Ben, who looks like he doesn't know what a gym is, headed this campaign of porn and other lies against Serge saying his background (that never happened) ruins the image of the sport is ridiculous and disloyal. Compared to Serge, Ben doesn't have a clue how to be a bodybuilder and has never looked like one. Ben bringing up the story again this year makes the sport of bodybuilding look worse than if he had left it alone to be forgotten. Why they said that I made a porno movie, the fast is that they suspend me at first, because they was afraid that the title of Mr. olympia has to go to some one who has nothing to do withe the Weider's supplements and training principles, so after nearly 2 week of not training and dieting, shey have been sure that i could not win Arnold any more, they give the possiblity to compete, everything that Weider wrote on his book about me, is a lie, and so let me suppose that everything on this book is only, I don't undestand why people before to die still want to lie.Serge
Thank you Made in Montana, to post here about what Weider said. Maybe Weider thought that I will never know about what he wrote about me on his stupid book which everything is lies. But thanfully internar exist now and on my book i said everything that Weider did in Paris in 1975, by going out with this beautiful transverstied, and went to bed whith her or him I realy don't know.
