Never happened to me. I guess I use too little weights

I had one come apart at the gym I used to go to. They had an old ratty one and a newer one. Someone needed the newer one at home I guess so I was using the ratty one and where the barrell connector is in the middle the rope split in two on an overhead extension. That stack of plates came down hard and everyone turns and looks about the time I hit the floor.

on mine the ball on the one end just popped off.

Did the rest of it swing around and hit you in the face? I could see that happening when the end comes off.

it just popped off and fell on the floor nothing special really happened.

Fucking yes.  I have a rope in my home gym.  It was a Body Solid brand.  Doing triceps and the fucking ball slips off and rope slips right through an flings off.  Luckily the weight was near the bottom so nothing much happened except the end scratched my shoulder on the way out.

The screw just stripped through then.  Looks like they melt the end of the rope, drill a hole, put the ball there and screw it in. 

I remember this really thick white cotton type rope at my old gym but searched everywhere online with no luck.  Now I just use angled bars.  Fuck ropes.

I believe it was Vince Basile who said he hated those things. Something about using them for anal beads when he was a little younger or something.

No, but I had the wire snap when I was doing in front pulldowns

The rope is good for overhead extensions.
