What exactly is the selection process there? Just curious.
There are two ways: seniority and number of quality posts or popularity. In the first case, if a person has been a member for a very long time and has made many quality posts, Ron might ask them to feel a moderator position if it is available. This was my case. The second way happens when a poster is extremely popular in a board and has contributed lots of information on the topic discussed in that board, that poster might be made a mod by popular demand. Believe it or not, this was Pumpster's case in the training board. It only adds to the irony of it all after you've seen his pictures.
Unfortunately, mod positions are more or less like like Supreme Justice nominations: they are for life. It's very rare for a mod to be demodded. It only happens in extreme cases of moderators abusing their powers or directly disrespecting one of Ron's directives or posting pedophilic/racist/personal info of posters on the main boards. So Pumpster will more likely than not continue being moderator no matter what.
