Why the hell would you wanna run 9 or 14 miles ?
I run 4 miles (well, before my quad accident) and for me that's really the limit without sacrificing mass or at least gains....
I tried running more, an hour a day. Got lotsa stamina and a nice slow heart-beat, but my squats weight went down, even though I ate enough calories and proteins.
You just can't have your cake and eat it.
Wanna look like a marathon runner? Keep running.....

Marathon running is essentially a Manlet sport. The top guys weigh in the 115-130 range.
When running long distances, the rep range is in 1000s. Using muscle won't work as fatigue will set in. So, you have to use gravity, momentum and a little bit of force. A big frame and a lot muscle becomes dead weight.
I see running no different from weight training, 40-45 minutes and I'm good. No need to turn it into a 3 hour ordeal.
