I bet 30-40% could name at least one other bodybuilder. I also bet that the majority of those names would be bodybuilders from the Haney era or before. Not too many common people know the names of the pros today.

No. 30-40% could name a bodybuilder, which is what you posted originally. I'd guess only 1 in 10 or less could name a current Pro bodybuilder.

Just because your typical american can't name a pro cyclist doesn't mean that they aren't household names in Europe. Last year at Alpe Du Huez more than 400,000 showed up to watch. That was only one stage. Now the US is home to the majority of pro bbers and still nobody cares, and for good reason.

I concede that less than 1 percent could name a current pro bodybuilder. My 30-40% is optimistic, to be sure, but I am sure that more than .0001% could name a bodybuilder.
Ask your wife, girlfriend, relatives, buddies, etc. If you say, "name a bodybuilder" and they don't at least say, "You," then you might as well stop lifting! :D

Plenty of people who don't follow sports could name baseball, basketball or football players.
