you dont lose natural muscle very easy.

I lose muscle and gain fat.
That's how my metabolism works! :D
Some people are more lucky with their metabolism, aka they've lost alot of qualitymass but they're still ripped when they let themselves go. Lucky sods.

drugs and alcohol are life's most precious gifts. somehow we should learn on what way to incorporate these things within our busy schedule.
-
I become very small.
-
Gain body fat,Hold tons of water, salt etc...still diesel though. Never shrink.
-
I would gain fat. I don't lose muscle very easily. Don't exactly built it easily either. Endomorphic tendencies, with just a hint of mesomorph.
I'm peaked naturally in terms of muscle growth. If I somehow figured out a way to get to 5% BF naturally, I'd weight about 185lbs. At 5'10". Probably could weigh 190 if I really did everything right, naturally. Maybe 180 if I got desperate and starved off the pounds.
When I take a layoff for health or family or work reasons, I always get a bit fatter. I like to eat. Training helps me stay lean in spite of my gastronomical habits. No training = get fat fast!
I will have to train for the rest of my life, or I'll look like the offspring of Chris Farley and Camryn Manheim.

fat, i've been known to kid myself that its muscle mass until one of those ultra crystal clear, full length, department store mirrors lets me know that i'm kidding myself :-[

If I eat good, i dont lose much size. I get real fat. But if I take a week off, and eat like 2-3 times a day WITH junk, I get small AND fat!

How many of you guys in your 30's notice that you're now nowhere near as strong as you used to be in your 20's?
I haven't lost any muscle size. Maybe even gained a 1lb or 2.
But why can't I do rack deads with six plates anymore? I can get 5 and that's pushing it. Why am I benching 40lbs less than when I was young? Used to shoulder press 275 without issue. Now I can't get 225.
I still think I train pretty hard...maybe not? Or is strength a young man's game? Or am I just getting old and weak and hurt? Did my form just suck when I was a kid, and now my form is better, so my poundages are wearker? Or maybe I don't have the eye of the tiger anymore?

become?

you dont lose muscle that quickly at all really.
i stopped for 10 years. strength went down quite a bit but came back very fast, and size didnt change that much really. got fat for sure though.
maybe if i hadnt gotten fat then i wouldve lost more muscle, dunno.
still, after 10 years not training, i never got small. i started out as a skinny kid too, so its not genetic that im a big guy.
-
I stopped training for about six months recently and lost about 15lbs in weight and definitely added a bit of fat but nothing too serious - it was more just atrophy than anything else. I've since put back on ten of those pounds that I lost in about ten weeks.

become?
Yes. Usually I'm a beast.

x2 Hey, all this mediocrity is a lot of hard work, I always say. :-\ ;D

Depends on genes if you are slim person by nature you get small if a fat person by nature fat.
-
barely lose muscle, barely lose strength. Only lose endurance and gain fat.
-
Mainly fat in my stomach, but I hold onto muscle in other places pretty decently.
-
I lose bodyweight and overall size, but stay lean. ecto-meso.
My co-worker maintains bodyweight, but gets fat. classic endo-meso.
-
depressed. fat already :D

All my PR's were done in my mid-late 30's. Mid 40's now and still lift pretty heavy, relatively speaking of course. I haven't really noticed any loss of strength, muscle or endurance.

Really small

I'm about to hit 36. I'm nowhere near as strong as I was in my 20's. I've had to start replacing Deadlifts with back extensions. Deadlifts were my best exercise. I've even cut out overhead pressing for awhile. I'm definitely paying for the way I lifted when I was younger. I also believe as you age you get a little more conservative with lifting. I can't afford for my lower back to go out or my right rotator to go. I still have awesome workouts though. My form is perfect and I warm up very thoroughly. I don't think I would have any of the problems I'm having if I just warmed up and utilized better form in my younger days.
-
I stop eating when I stop training so I get reeeeeeeeeeally small...but shredded.
-
Over 40 here
I'm stronger than I was in my 20's and 30's because I didn't know what the fuck I was doing.
When I let go, I get fat but not small.
-
I stay about the same weight, but body composition changes. Last time I took a break from the gym, I lost 10lbs of muscle, and replaced it with 10lbs of fat in 6 months. Another bad effect, I get WEAK... my strength completely disappears. I need to be in the gym, otherwise I will deteriorate into a piece of shit.
