Inspired by the Konstantinov 55 pullup video, here is the GetBig Pullup Contest!

Rules are simple:
-One minute to do as many pullups as possible.
-Overhand and underhand grip only, no neutral grip.
-Chin must reach or clear bar.
-Camera must be in good position to judge quality of reps.
-You must hold onto the bar at all times.
-Wrist straps are NOT allowed. Wrist WRAPS are allowed if needed. (Please show us them clearly so we know you arent cheating)
-Present your name in the video. (on a piece of paper is fine)
-Must be a Getbigger with at least 100 posts!
Entry date is MARCH 29th 2009!
Prizes provided by AtLarge Nutrition will be awarded to the top three contestants! (products in the amount of)
1st = $100
2nd = $75
3rd = $50
One more note on form. If you have not seen the Konstantinov pullup video, he has "questionable form". We are accepting any comparable form (watch the vid). In the end this "technique" will not help you much, especially with grip, but knock yourself out.
So who is in? Better get practicing!

Do those really count? Yes, 55 is impressive, but there's a ton of momentum in those pulls. With enough kicking I think a lot of getbiggers could break 40. I could break 5 at least.

I can do a shitload in one minute if you let us get on the floor.. so make the minute rule like the deadlift contest where you can only rest as long as you haven't let go of the bar, etc.

Once you touch the bar the minute begins. Cant let go until you are finished, you must be hanging the entire time.

when i did my 60 it was in better form then those which are called dynamic chins. the record for dynamic chins is by an old farmer named john curd edmunds in 1978 he did 117 just like the guy in the video only he was 66 years old at the time . he still could do 32 in this manner well into his 70's. when i was a boyscout laugh out loud lol, i entered a chin contest at a jamboree over 2000 other bsa and i beat the next kid by over 20 chins . i did 45 chins at a whopping 100lbs bodyweight. as far as curd google his name and chinup, there's lots of facts about chins.

Oh and I just want to remind everyone who is entering that these videos will be judged by multiple selected members. This means you need to show good ROM and observe the rules or you will be disqualified.

Who claimed to be a "training expert?" Most wont have the grip and others wont have the stamina.

Feel free to switch grips. No neutral because Konsti used overhand and neutral is much easier for most people.

how about this, no momentum, full dead hang with 1 sec pause, and chest must touch the bar
that is a real pull-up.

We are delaying the entry date by one week to help people get them in. Now the date is March 29th.
We're doing this just because everyone is very busy as of late. This is just for fun anyway.
So put what you have now and then take another stab at it the next week if you wish. Good luck!

No kipping, over hand grip, full extension lock out at the bottom & chin needs to be clearly over the bar.
Try doing a pull-up with a monitor counting the reps. They will decide when the arms are at full extension & will tell you when to pull up. They then will only count the rep once the chin clears.
i wouldn't count one rep on any of these video's.
Geo is close, but the hammer grip has to go. Also, some of them there wasn't full extension.

kenny....this isnt the G and O board...overexaggerating isnt becoming especially if you are a marine....i agree that pullups should be strict but that was not the contest rules, and claiming that me or geo couldnt do 1 pullup is absurd...we all know that geo can squeeze out at least one good one and i can get maybe a half with some ammonia capsules and death metal music to pump me up
jus saying man there are much more diplomatic ways to approach discontents with the contest without being a jerk

and I just noticed at the end of that vid that you had a little barbell down there that your were stepping on and bouncing off of...
which by the way is a 3 pull up penalty
score so far....

sex mustard, dude ur chin wasnt even close on alot of those....im not the judge so im jus sayin i counted very few good ones and the fact that we cant see if u are using that bench thats sitting RIGHT THERE while youll doing them...
its up to the judges but this last minute entry is "questionable" at best...my first vid was like urs so i did another one to be sure and error on the side of safety

Ermmmm, OK well I'm a judge. I have a problem with the fact that we can't see your legs in that video SM. I'd give ya 6 or 7 if we could see what you were doing with your legs. I might give you 10 if you draw me a nice picture. But since no one else submitted a vid, I would say you get third place anyway for the effort. ;D
Hedge and Vet are the other two judges if you want them to weigh in...

Due to the fact that I've tested positive for illegal substances (too much vanilla creamer in my coffee) prior to posting my vid,I feel that the only fair thing to do is to disqualify myself, and therefor I can not be considered entered in getbig.coms yearly pullup contest....

props to sexual mustard for posting a vid period, on account of it really seems like a daunting task for most people on this site to do so...
for the most part the only pics of people around here are faceless and shoving an arm at the camera,or taken 4 years ago when they actually were still lifting...
these contests will never work because there's too much fear by people unwilling to expose themselves...

Sexual Mustard only got a couple reps at best but yes he does get props for posting a vid at least.

I counted 4 or 5 legit reps for Sexy Mustard, very hard to say.
He could probably have done 20+ real chins if he would've pulled the whole way up.
But "coulda, woulda, shoulda".
He didn't.
Still gets tons of respect from me.

The other video is better in my opinion simply because you can see Wall's feet. Its too easy to cheat without being able to see the feet.

I have the same problem with this video. The camera angles don't help in any way.
