Title: BEST SHAVING GEL & RAZOR
Post by: nosleep on March 24, 2012, 02:25:31 PM
I SHAVE QUITE OFTEN, GENERALLY EOD  :D

USE GILETTE FUSION...THAT BLEW. TRIED SHICK 5, PRETTY GOOD. WILL GO WITH THAT ONE UNLESS SOMEONE ELSE HAS A BETTER OPTION FOR ME.

GOT VERY SENSITIVE SKIN, CUTS EASILY, DON'T REACT WELL TO MUCH OILY PRODUCTS ON MY FACE.

I just use nivea for men sensitive or gilette sensitive and I've got extremely sensitive skin yet I'm fine with that stuff...anything perfumed is bad for your skin, period.

No man, I get it all from amazon.com. You will save a ton of money doing it this way vs. buying those shaving cartridges over and over. Get these.

This is the best way to get a super close shave that leaves the skin healthy. The mach3 and all that other bullshit with 3+ razors snag at the skin and causes bumps and ingrown hairs and shit.

These blades are good for at least 3 shaves, but since they're $0.18 apiece, I only use them once or twice.

Also, it's a very enjoyable shave. You work a hot rich lather with the brush that smells real good and makes you feel like you're getting an oldschool barber shave. Throw on some 70's or earlier music, and you're set.

Damn - that's some serious equipment! I just use Nivea sensitive shaving gel and a two-blade disposable followed by the Nivea post-shave balm afterwards. I get good results from that but I've always wanted to try the soap and brush thing.

I will chime on this non bodybuilding related topic because you must look good with a good physique!

Let me tell you shaving razors are a scam.  I remember passing Costco the other day and saw Gillette razor pack, I think it was like 25 razor cartridges and it was like $50!  What a scam that is.  Costco is where I buy everything, but if that's cheap at Costco, imagine at some convenience store.

I have tried many different razors...  Known crap like Gillette mach 3 and Braun electric foil razors.  Garbage all of it!

My father gave me his razor, which was passed down to him.  It's a double edge safety razor and is the best!  But when I was young I tried all the crap anyway.

Electric was never good for me.  It always irritates my neck making it red and itchy.  I tried Phillips brand, those 3 headed rotary crap.  Took longer than a wet shave because I had to keep checking to make sure I got all the hair.  As I said above I tried Braun electric, different style, but not much better.

Gillette was never good.  Had the mach 3 and the vibrating one as well.   The blades went dull so fast.  3 blades, 5 blades, 50 blades, doesn't matter.  They get dull fast, especially if you have thick or curly hair.  More blades just got more hair clogged in between wasting more time to clean it out.

I tried many other manual and disposable razors.  Yes they got a close shave, but dull fast.  Every second shave or so I would get an ingrown hair or two.  Pain in the ass when it's near the lip or on the jaw line.

Started using the old safety razor and never went back.  Just let it glide a long your face and I do 2 passes with soap.  Very nice and clean, no cuts, and I rarely get an ingrown hair anymore.  I switch the blade after maybe 6 or 7 shaves.

I don't think you need any fancy aftershave or anything.  Never used it, see no need.  I only advocate shaving soap with a badger brush over some high price crap gel or foam.

hope this helps

Face- good old sensor excel are the best.
Head- clippers on zero. Everytime I shave my head with a razor, I get red bumps and ingrown hairs.

I use this bad boy. Closest thing to a barber shop shave. I had it for 2 years now and the blades are still as sharp as the day I bought it. Plus it comes with the flip out liner to do your sideburns and mustache.

Mach 3 disposable/standard. They last for ever! The fusion shite blades are too close together and clog up.. All this "closer, smoother shave" bull shit is a way of getting you to use more blade. Mach 3, just 1 will last weeks and weeks! I even had them last months if you clean them and keep them clean! I naturally hairy and have thick strong hair.
As for Gel/Foam, pretty much anything that lathers really!

roughly you saved 50% of what you used to spend. easy math there. If you have never used a double edge razor before let the weight of the razor do the work you don't have to press to your skin like the cartridge razors. Get a good shaving brush as well, you can start with a synthetic if you don't want to break in a badger brush, they stink at first but the smell washes out after time and they're the best. good luck..

I HAVE A BADGER BRUSH. MY DAD GOT IT FOR ME IN SOME KIT HE GOT ME FOR BDAY WITH A 2 COLOGNES & AFTER SHAVE.

CAN I SHAVE IN THE SHOWER STILL WITH THIS STUFF?

Yeah, shaving in the shower is actually good cause the steam opens up pores and helps with a smoother shave. Dab a little shaving cream/soap (good stuff) on your wet face and work the lather with a brush directly on the face. Shave and finish showering then put after shave on.

looks like you're good to go then and as for shaving with it in the shower, you sure can.

if you're shaving for the first time with a safety razor, then you might wanna watch a few vids on youtube for some tips on how to shave correctly. its different than your usual disposable shave so you have to learn new and better technique

I was going to post a few vids as well but didn't want to come across as metro hahah! but since everyone else did this guy is pretty good with the tutorials.

I'm also getting into using a straight razor for my mustache. Currently I use the type you have to insert a half razor blade in.

Are you black BIG DUB? I thought black dudes couldn't shave with a straight razor case of ingrown hairs? ???

That looks awesome I would love to try that. I have the type of beard where it's really hard for me to shave with a regular razor. I get terrible bumps and ingrowns. Especially on my neck. I usually use a beard trimmer and just trim it down. It's such a pain in the ass though. It always comes out kind of uneven to. I might have to look into this.

never had a problem with it to be honest. Hair on my head is thick and curly, hair on my mustache is the same. now hair on my beard..steel fuking wool, and it grows so fast you can feel it coming out of your face..I used to do the clipper thing but it never got close enough, then the bic style razors tore my face up bad. Finally i found wet shaving and never looked back. Skin is perfect on my face, not one ingrown hair or razor burn.

Does a DE razor like this one, http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Merkur-34C-Heavy-Duty-Safety-Razor_p_31.html , give a closer shave than the standard 3-5 blade mach 3?  I hate shaving and if I could shave every 3 days instead of EOD that would be awesome.

actually black guys should only use straight or double edge razor. Pair it with a good razor bump product like skin tight or tend skin and your face will be razor bump free and smooth as a babys ass.

Oh. Didn't know that. So the black guys I see (no homo) with bumps and shit are because they are using the wrong shaving method?

possibly, just depends on what your skin is like. I use the 3 pass method. with, across and against the grain with no problems. I couldn't do that with the disposable type razors.

feathers are the best blades but expensive. the astras in my opinion are the best bang for the buck second to feathers.

it's all relative. 50 blades for $22 is more expensive than Astras but still cheap overall. Compare that to cartridge blades

Remember that you have to wash it a few times with shampoo and conditioner to get the badger smell out of it. If not and you just go and use it, your face will smell like a wet animal no matter how many times you wash your face with soap. After you break it in your'e good to go..

I didn't like the feathers. I love the Astras, and at $0.18 apiece, you can't beat it.
