yes I know they are considered a "jakoe" exercise, but they target the pec better than anything else

And speaking of isolation exercises for the torso, did anybody here ever get anything out of any lat isolation exercises ie pullovers or straight-arm pulldowns? They never did jack shit pour moi. As far as upper back training goes chins/pulldowns and rows are the champs. My 2 favs are pronated wide grip chins and dumbell rows.

you're a 170 pounds for fuck sake. go to the gym and lifts weights. worry about 'isolating' when you have something to isolate.

So you think it's better with the resistance placed upon the elbows rather than upon the hands? I always got a much better peak contraction when pushing from the hands as opposed to the elbows.

Remember, the pecs bring your upper arm across and to the center of your torso. You could cut your forearms off and still work the pecs. The resistance is more direct and therefore you can use more resistance when the resistance is at the elbows/upper arms. Same reason why Jones had the pads on the elbows for his lateral raise machine. Also, it's one of the reasons why most people don't like and don't feel their lats when using the pullover machine. They pull down with their hands and not drive back with their elbows. Try doing the pullover without grabbing the handle at all. Just have the elbows on the pads and keep your hands over your head in whatever way is comfortable to you.
