Allow me to state the obvious since no one else has.  Viruses, hacks, maintenance mode, hang on tight, and a crawling server speed have left the members feeling somewhat disenchanted.  Traffic is certainly down and those that do log in are sometimes in a pissy mood these days because of the bullshit.  If problems persist, it is possible that members will continue to drift away to other boards and Getbig will not retain sufficient mass to survive or recover, and will wither and die.

240's thread on a Mr Getbig 4 contest had some legs.  Ron should pursue that imo.  Freeing some of the more interesting people from Timeout might pique some interest and get the place hoppin'.  Letting us know what's behind the recent rash of problems might help, even if Ron just starts a thread called "Fuck you, it's free, deal with it."  People would at least get to vent and raise a little hell.

Mostly, he needs to ensure that his site is up and running properly and is disease free.  It's awesome of him to have never tried to cash in and make us put up with advertising and such, so if it's a question of money to get things done, I'm sure a lot of long term posters would be willing to make a donation to help him out.  I'd give him a few bucks for all the laughs I've had over the years and if the place folds anyway then so be it.  I've never been one to yell about the sky falling here but the time for a decision is at hand because the fat lady is starting to sing.

Hope Ron takes some measures to let the place build itself back to health.  It is very quiet after the recent problems tho.  This week you could hear a pin drop on the G&O after it came back online.    Two/three years ago it moved so fast you could hardly keep up.

I made the mistake of promoting getbig2 before actually experience it. I figure that because they pattern themselves after getbig and one of the complaints here is censorship then getbig2 would be a good alternative. It's not. Censorship is a lot more prevalent there. You piss off the wrong people threads you're on get deleted. Threads you start get deleted. And posts they don't like get deleted. I've been here on getbig since 2005 starting with a different ID and have over 3,000 posts just on this account alone and I've never had a thread or post deleted except by NaturalWonder on the V board which I don't really care about since the only time I post there is when a thread got moved there I didn't notice. It's a trivial board that most here don't give a crap about. And marty31672 who many think is lame also got his post deleted and eventually banned. His crime: he posted, in his inimitable way, that his computer got a virus from GetBig and his wife suspects that he might have been surfing porn. People think it's lame but they know marty already, they know what to expect, so they can easily ignore it.

getbig2/muscleweek wants to have a certain kind of board. As Block told me it's "Where a bodybuilder, is a bodybuilder is a bodybuilder. For bodybuilders BY bodybuilders " Fair enough. No hard feelings. I think a board solely about bodybuilding is boring because bodybuilding is boring. No compelling characters. I consider this board far, far more than just a bodybuilding board.

I'd give Alex's board a try before getbig2/muscleweek because Alex will not be so judgmental and he's also a good guy. They seem to hate him over there of getbig2/muscleweek so he must have given them a big butt hurt.

The way I judge a post or thread on how popular it is is by how long it stays alive. If a person or thread is truly boring and uninteresting it just fades away or die. You may hate Ship like I hate Sev but their threads gets the most hits. It's not always about whether you like something or not but is it compelling? Does it interest you? Does it stir you up and get your blood boiling? Sparks flying? I don't like Sev and I don't like TA but I would never want them banned because they piss me off. The board will be far more boring without them. It's not all about pleasing me. Ship for some reason I can't explain doesn't bother me and uber doesn't bother me either. They sure stir things up around here. And uber often has some very insightful posts if you are willing to listen and put aside the hate.

You vote with your posts to determine whether or not someone should be listened to. I'd rather have that then just random bannings because someone happens to not like someone else. Slacker was getting universally reamed here but Ron rightly  let him stay. He, like pumpster and squad, left on their own accord. But slacker will be back and I can't wait to welcome him back. He wasn't a bad guy all in all.

Once I realized my posts and threads were getting deleted I figured whats the point? I pmed Block about it and he told me that he wanted the board to be different from GetBig and have it's on niche. I understood and really had no hard feelings but obviously the board wasn't for me. I did not feel I left on bad terms. Not good terms but not bad either. We just didn't jive. No big deal. In fairness, before I left I also did delete some of my own posts that I wrote prompting their board and trying to move more people here over there. Not out of spite but I didn't want to promote something that I didn't believe in.

Maybe I'll check out the board to see and make note of those who couldn't wait to pounce on me.
