Title: North Korea’s Response to B-2 Runs
Post by: Nails on March 29, 2013, 08:42:45 AM
http://blogs.wsj.com/korearealtime/2013/03/29/north-koreas-stealth-free-response-to-b-2-runs/ (http://blogs.wsj.com/korearealtime/2013/03/29/north-koreas-stealth-free-response-to-b-2-runs/)

North Korea’s Stealth-Free Response to B-2 Runs

The announcement that two B-2 stealth bombers made test runs over South Korea on Thursday clearly triggered alarm in North Korea, where dictator Kim Jong Eun chaired a late-night meeting of military top brass to discuss the U.S. show of force, according to state media.

There Mr. Kim signed off on a plan to strike at U.S. bases in the Pacific, South Korea and the U.S. mainland, the report said, and declared that the “time has come to settle accounts with the U.S. imperialists.” As Pyongyang did in announcing earlier that it has those targets lined up, it inserted a conditional clause: It will hit back if the U.S. makes ”a reckless provocation with huge strategic forces.”

To ensure that the message that it’s really very serious about hitting the U.S. gets out, North Korea also released a couple of photos of the meeting that show a map titled “U.S. Mainland Strike Plan” and what are presumably projected flight paths for missiles to Hawaii and the U.S. mainland. (It may take a few more years for North Korea to develop missiles that can actually complete the projected routes.)

The website nknews.org has a good analysis of the map and also notes that the picture in which it appears was carried by the North’s biggest newspaper, the Rodong Sinmun, suggesting it is intended to persuade a domestic audience that the regime has a plan for striking the U.S.

The meeting reportedly started after midnight, which suggests state media worked through the night to get its coverage out—a demonstration of how the North Korean propaganda operation has upped its game in recent years. News of major events now often comes the same day, rather than a day later as used to be the case.

The Korean-language report was published at 4:43 a.m. local time, with the English-language version (headlined “Kim Jong Un Convenes Operation Meeting, Finally Examines and Ratifies Plan for Firepower Strike”) following at 6:50.

North Korea watcher Michael Madden, who runs the blog North Korea Leadership Watch, says the increased speed of the media is one of the major changes he’s noticed since Kim Jong Eun took power.

“Kim Jong Eun has people under him who have studied abroad and that makes a difference,” he said. “There’s a faster response time in North Korean media to events and news in South Korea and elsewhere.”

South Korea media reported increased activity at North Korean missile sites on Friday, including vehicles moving to the Tongchang-ri base on the western coast, where North Korea launched its long-range rocket from in December. The Defense Ministry in Seoul said it couldn’t confirm the reports.

Meanwhile in central Pyongyang, the Associated Press reported, there was a staple of North Korean staged seething: a rally of thousands of people, with timeless chants including “Death to the U.S. imperialists.”

China would be a non-issue as well. If NK attacks, China has no choice but to sit back and watch it play out... If NK is an agressor, and china backs them, we just stop buying chinese shit and put them on the export import ban.

Bye Bye china's economy.

In terms of actual force to take the South I think the North could do it.

This of course excludes a preemptive strike from the US and whether China and Russia will back the North if they have occupied the South.

There is no way the Chinese would want to have Americans on their borders even if the North falls and Americans have to occupy the country. This would mean American forces and their allies are then literally on their borders.

They have 3 million troops, 60 000 special forces and enough supplies for 3 months war.

The Chinese would not want the Americans right on there borders with their missiles!

And yes, the NK army is primitive but there tactics include mass wave suicide attacks, special forces raids, sabotage/terrorism, gas attacks as well as cyber and electronic warfare to fry Americas over-reliance on computers.

We would never use nukes against them because of the fallout to S. Korea would be too great.  We have non-nuclear payloads that are greater in power than N. Koreas nuclear tests they've done.  We would easily wipe every single one of their military targets off the face of the map before they could fire one shitty little nuke.

This is just that pan-faced slant eyed cockswollower trying to look tough to the starving droves of people he rules over.  The silly map with US strike targets was about as threatening as a Risk Board.

Piss ant little countries throughout history have always started shit with the bigger and badder ones, much like short mans syndrome, their leaders feel  less than average and feel the need to step up. Look back at history with countries, Germany, Italy and Japan. They where all small non superpowers that built up there military while the superpowers rested and played. Take North Korea today(run by a piss-ant little 20 something year old with a chip on his shoulder) also Iran with its little asshole in charge and we have all the other bullshit tension with bad economies and a president in the white house who is downsizing our military just like pre WW2. Guess what folks what does this resemble?

someone on the GB General board recommended it.  I dont read too many fiction books, but this one was incredible.  one of our enemies sets off an EMP over US soil and it shuts down everything with a computer or chip in most of the USA.   Food stops, people hoard and then it gets crazy.  People start executing each other for stealing medicine, prisons are emptied so that the prisoners can be skewered and eaten... people with medical conditions die very quickly... packs of criminals roam from town to town executing people and robbing each other... just total madness...

yet at the same time, totally believable.  take away electricity and gas stations and grocery stores, kill everything with a chip, and voila... it's back to the caveman ages around here with 300 mil americans who can't prepare their own food, find water, or protect themselves.

I think about the book every day since i read it.  terrifying.  One Second after, by william F...

No it is not believable, we will adjust before things get so far, ya it will be a mess, but not chaotic where we lose control, this is nothing but a wild imagination over losing electricity and computers falling, most people can live without that. People act like if shit goes down, we will just sit around and do nothing, of course not. Anyone with a business will do whatever it takes to keep it running and the government will be in full swings and farmers will get rich. The only one that will die are the facebook fanatics that will die from withdrawl.
