Highreps with heavyweights

I always loved this method liked this method warm up good use a weight you can get near 20 reps and blast at like bench 250 21 time or bent row 250 20 heavy leg press I just don't see how benching 300x 20 or rowing 295 x 20 time can't build mass ,dips and chins work well legpress do a few 3 sets of 10 curls ,leg curl, triceps what ever you want in there it can be done as a full body routine such a dips row legpress with curls and leg curls threw in next work out might be bench 300x 15 chins until you hit 50 squats curls, tri extensions I'm naming this the chess315 system it does work good is fairly easy in that you only do three kill your self sets a work out but lots of easy warm up sets basically your doing a NFL combine test on 3 compound movements try it I think you should probably already have a decent strength base but how the hell can't benchiny 315 17 times build mass or doing 25 chins or 600lb legpress or 300lb squat think about it

I think that someone who can bench press 315 for 20 reps will definitely have some mass on them. But I don't think they will get to that point by starting at say 95lbs for 20. Nor do I think they will ever get to 405 for 20 training this way. I do think that someone who has just reached that strength level will get some size out of sets of 20 with 315 but only for a little while and then they will just maintain.

Bench 315 for 20??

Are you serious bro?

Maybe 1% of the whole training pop could do it and that is 1% of guys who train regularly think deeply about that

You do realize that the thread title says high reps with HEAVY weights. And we are talking about how effective high reps with HEAVY weights are effective at building muscle. One percent of the gym population can bench 315lbs even once let alone for 20. Even a proper 315lb squat is rare. The point is I have never seen anyone bench 315 properly and not have some muscle on them.

I got to bench and rowing 295 20+ times on around 2,500mgs of gear training less then a hour 1.5 hrs a week. My training was just warm up good and gradually add weight I did bench.bentrow, chins, legpresses I had a legpress machine at the occasional incline presses and deadlifts I had prison style weight equipment. And a 100lb dumbbell I used for krock rows. I may have used up to 5grams at points im working on getting back to that had to start over was in coma didn't life for 2 yes and am 40 now everything is going fine so far I get to 225 for 20 fairly quickly I believe the 295 is rough probably take a year I have no idea but 225 20-30 isn't shit

I believe heavy weight with high reps will definitely build lots of size and strength but heavy is talkative as if you can do it for high reps it’s not heavy for you anymore.Either way when I was benching “heavy weight” for high reps 275 for 25s,315 for 12-18 etc... I was at my peak in size and strength.

high-reps with fairly heavy weights it´s my choice after 50, and i like that kind of pain and pump. Last Back Training Pullover-Machine with 310 bs. for 23 reps, and on the seted bench-press machine i did 185 kg (407 lbs.)
for 18 reps. BW ist 258 lbs./height 6 "2", Training since 1979.....

Benching 275 for 25 reps!  315lbs for 12-18 reps. That's better than most multi million dollar NFL players. Incredible. That's top elite stuff.  Bet you would out bench 95% of the NFL in the combine with 225lbs.

How can you do high reps with heavy weights?

Like already mentioned, if you can do high reps then the weight is not a high % of your max.

10 reps is usually around 60% of max.

18 reps would probably be 40% of max.

407 for 18 would put your max around 1000 lbs

Machines can be weird so how much can you bench free weight for 18 reps?

The 20 rep squat workout is based on this principal.

Just do more sets with a heavish weight to get a total of high reps. So instead of doing 3 sets of 6 (18 reps total, pathetic) do 10 sets of 6 (60 reps in total, better) also keep to a minute's rest between sets. Train hard and fast.
