Pats

NE vs SD breakdown

quarterback : Advantage NE ( Brady 2 time superbowl mvp,3 time sb winner, 11- 1 postseason) Rivers is great, but he is a playoff rookie. That COULD hurt him.

Running back
: Advantage San D ( While Maroney Faulk and Dillon are very good... But, LT is on another level, neal is a monster and Turner is pretty good to)

Recievers : Slight advantage pats. Pats have  slightly better recivers as a whole. McCardel has been a disapointment for the chargers. San D's top two recievers are the tight end and the running back. Neither group (wr's) are stars. 6'4, 240 lb Chad Jackson is healthy and could have a break out game for NE. With the reliability of Caldwell and Brown and the break out game Gaffney had I give them the slight edge.

D line : Advntage pats : Wilfork and Willaims are the best in the game, the advantage to the pats is made by Seymour and Warren, who are slightly better then Castillo and Olhansky

Offensive line
: advantage San D  While the the NE O line has suffered from injury this year they have come on strong. Only allowing 5 sacks in the last 4 games. Lt's ability makes it hard to tell how well the line actually is blocking, but I give the advantage to the chargers since they had fewer sacks this year

Linebackers : advantage San D ( MERRIMAN!!!)

Secondary
: advantage pats ( Asanti samuel has 11 picks on the year the chargers finsihed 13th aginst the pass giving up 19 tds. The pats secondary have only given up 10 tds on the year

Special teams : advantage San D   which comes down to the kicker Glaskowski has very good .769 making 20 - 26 while Keading is a near perfect .897 making 26 -29 The pats have slightly better coverage but the nod goes to san d because of the spectacular field goal unit. Maroney has a 30 yard return average, to turners 25 yard average

Coaches : huge advantage NE :  Bill ( 3 time superbowl winner 12-2 postseason) ( Marty 5 12 postseason chokemaster)

The chargers are better talent wise but the pats match up well.

You have to love the turn around time for bad teams. Not to long ago San D almost moved out of the city. Eli would not play for them, etc, etc.... Now they are the best team in the AFC, gunning for a superbowl. They have a great future also.

Football is great.

I am rooting for the saints. I can only vote for BC alum Matt Hassleback, and former Pats wr Dieon Branch to a certain point. The higher they get, the lower our first round pick goes! :-X

I think we might wanna finally get Tommy boy a big time reciever or two, for his prime years. The free agent market is going to be a legit one for wr's this offseason. The picks will most likley be used for a defensive back and middle linebacker. But, you never know. Although Telly has stepped it up this year. Jr is older, and with the massive injuries in the secondary this year they need some insurance for Asanti Wilson Harrison and Hobbs imo.

Most everyone else is locked up, besides Asanti who they started negotiating with.

See if vick can put it together this year with a new coach. If not, maybe it is time to see if a different qb would be a better choice for you guys. maybe pick up a few quality recievers from free agency.

I do not know a ton about Atlanta (stats) so I cannot speak 100 perent sure about it.

Yeah a blowout against the second best defense in the league ::). NE/Balt/ and whoever in the NFC.

Bump. I speak the truth. If LT scores 2 TD's AND breaks 125+ yards, expect SD to win by 14+ points.

Three years ago not a soul could fathom the NE Patriots holding the NFL best offense to 3 points. That colts offense was a legit monster that year. Better then this San Dieago offense. That year Bellichek found a way to hold manning and co to three points. Everyone was shocked.Thinking LT is the only factor to this game is result of lack of knowledge and not looking at how the teams truly match up.

Containing LT is a huge factor in this game, but there are many other factors that need to be addressed on both sides of the ball, for both teams. I hope Maroney is on for this game. I would have loved to see the rookie not share the carry load with Dillon and Faulk. People are sleeping on him since he was out for those three games during the regular season.

Bellichek outsmarted and outplayed Indy. Holding the far and away number one offense to three points during that game was incredable. My point is, just because San D has one of the greatest running backs ever does not mean they cannot be held. I am not taking anything away from san d. I think they are an awesome team.

I also love how the Chargers are refusing to sell tickets to people from MA ::)

how can they even do that  ???
Title: Re: NFL picks

If you go to si.com you see the picks are split down the middle. Peter king who is one of the most respected sports writers picked the pats. Even the people whom picked the chargers had the game close.

I have no problem with people thinking San D will win this game. There is a very strong argument to be made that they will. Same could be said for the patriots.

People who actually study the matchup have the game close with either team winning ::) The easy thing to say is LT, Merrimen!!! Or Bellicheck ,Brady!!!! But, there is much more there.

I have no idea. They are refusing to sell to anyone without a San D area code. Just shows what type of attitude people have towards the patriots success in the last 6 years ::)

Last time I checked, there was a bunch of jets fans at Gillete last game.

The one team I wouldn't bet against in the playoffs is N.E.

The one team I wouldn't bet against in the playoffs is N.E.

Every time Pats have won a huge game they had "no chance", Over and over. Could San D blow em out? Sure, but Ne could blow San D out. I think the logical prediction would be a close game. Anything can happen on any given Sunday. But, the hate/jealousy people have for the patriots success is most obvious at times like these. Like a 13 and 4 record is nothing at all ::) The second fewest points allowed in the nfl is nothing at all ::)  Peple who do not look at the actual numbers say  LT/ Merrimen. Same goes for pats fans who say Bellicheck/ Brady. There is so much more there. Both sets are huge factors, but there are a million other factors also.

Take a look at San D's schedule. There are some close games with some bad teams in there. Notably the bills game. yet, they are bulletproof.

I have nothing but respect for the Chargers. I also think I am fair with my analazation of the game. They are a great team and NE will have to bring there best game to pull one out.
