Feds to ease restrictions on 'American Taliban'

Federal prison officials are easing restrictions on American-born Taliban fighter John Walker Lindh, including allowing him to meet with people other than his attorneys or relatives.
U.S. Bureau of Prisons spokesman Dean Boyd says restrictions imposed on Lindh in March 2002 will expire Friday. Boyd says officials believe the perceived threat of Lindh's communications has diminished.
The 28-year-old Lindh is incarcerated at a medium-security federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind., where he is serving a 20-year sentence for aiding the Taliban in Afghanistan. He was captured in November 2001 in the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan.
Lindh's San Francisco attorney, Jim Brosnahan, says he's pleased the restrictions are being lifted.

i think he trained with them definitely. denied firing at us, but shit... everyone else in the building he was in was... so i don't buy it. he's guilty.
it's a weird thing... he was fighting an invading country... so he's a POW. but the war in afghanistan is still technically going, so he should just be a POW.
I dont understand the enemy combatant thing when you invade and pick them up on their home dirt firing a rifle like a soldier. I mean, i dont give a shit about walker, of course... but it's tricky and slippery legally.

The one thing I've never understood is why liberals get so much joy from seeing criminals released. They can never accept the fact that some people are just plain scumbags.They always want to whine that the poor criminal had a rough childhood and needs to be given a second chance. They also love to say that the people who largely comprise our prison system are only there because of racism. It doesn't occur to them that if these people wern't committing crimes they wouldn't be in jail.

I think most ppl in jail deserve to be there. I'm against legalization of weed. I think drunk drivers should get 5 years in prison for 1st offense. There is no "joy" when bad guys get released.

Bob Barr. I tried to talk him into voting for Obama since he lives in Florida but I don't remember him giving in. In the vote we held here, he also went with Bob Barr. Look up the getbig primary poll. He also posted quite a bit on Barr.

fivethirtyeight.com had mccain up by 51%, right along with intrade in sept, and they were right. You always go with the answer when science and gamblers agree ;)
I know some people believe the Hannity call-in poll instead, but we all knew this election was over when mccain had the perfect storm (2 week span when palin looking dumb on couric lined up with the economy finally falling in mid-september).
Barr got my vote baby. I'll either vote repub or libertarian in 2012 too.
